This is a brand new series focusing on the Gatlin siblings from the Heartstone Ranch. Lark Gatlin is the only daughter and is smart, sweet, sassy, and more of a peacemaker of the group. But even she has been raised to believe that the Stones are their enemies and are tampering with their ranch. 

But one night when Lark’s in need of help, Tristan Stone is the one who comes to her rescue, even when she tries to send him on his way. And then these two just circle around each other, knowing that it’s a very bad idea, but there’s just something between them that keeps pulling them together. So they think they can scratch the itch a little bit and do a frenemies-with-benefits thing. No one has to know. They’re sure they can keep it on the downlow and avoid any messy complications and feelings.

I really liked Tristan. He’s a widower and single dad, and he’s just trying to run the family ranch, wrangle in his feisty dad, and be there for his sisters and his daughter. And also deny the constant accusations by the Gatlins that he’s tampering with their ranch.

Lark has her hands full with her brothers and family. But they become that little pocket of happiness for each other in the midst of chaos. But they know if it ever gets out that they will be the ones causing the chaos within their families and town.

It’s a single dad, forbidden, secret fling, frenemies-with-benefits, grumpy-sunshine, small-town romance. I really enjoyed this book. It’s got humor, heart, spice, and plenty of family drama. Lark and Tristan are so likable and have such great banter and chemistry. They are so good together in their little bubble but afraid of the world outside that.  

There are definite other stories to be told between the siblings and other side characters. I liked the small town and rival ranchers aspect and am intrigued by these other characters.
