This was a short steamy novella. It was told in Brynne's POV, but Ethan is vocal enough that you can tell what he is feeling most of the time. It ended up breaking my heart and making me want to crash my kindle since it left me wanting more. I am so happy I was armed and ready with book 2...

I kept coming back to the same idea I had when I'd first found out what he was doing. Ethan knows what happened to me and there is no way he could possibly love me now.
This book starts off right after we leave off the dramatic ending of the first one. I have to first say that I love that this one is written with dual POVs and we really get into Ethan's head.
Ethan and Brynne are both heartbroken, angry, and miserable. Lies and omissions wreak havoc on a relationship. They are horrible apart, but also stubborn. Ethan does the only thing he can think of to make her understand what he did and how he feels so he writes Brynne a heartfelt love letter.
...but when I saw how you looked at me, Brynne, I felt something--a connection with you. Things moved inside me and clicked into place. The missing piece of my puzzle? I don't know what it was, I just know it happened to me the night we met...I had to know you, And then had to be with you. To have you look at me and really see me. I know now that I feel in love, I fell in love with a beautiful American girl. You, Brynne.

Brynne is still in danger and Ethan wants nothing more to protect her and be with her. They finally begin to be honest with each other and Brynne's past is revealed. She shares her secrets despite fears of rejection. Ethan still has nightmares but he is still not ready to share. But his reaction to Brynne's past is crucial for their relationship.
They have natural Dom/Sub tendencies that meet each other's needs. Their relationship and sex scenes are passionate, loving, intense, steamy, and happen very often. They are sweet, loving, and supportive. Although trust and jealousy are big issues with this couple.

We had come so far, so fast, it was more than a little mad, but like I'd said before, there was no changing our path now. We were speeding down a mountain and weren't stopping for anything.

Despite their building loving relationship, there are still shadows haunting them... Security issues, threats, danger, and fear. All of the issues in this book were not completely resolved, but left off at a good place and did not kill you with a cliff hanger. But there is definitely more in store for Ethan and Brynne.
I also enjoyed his cousin Ivan and her friend Gabrielle and I look forward to seeing more of them as well in their own series The Rothvale Legacy coming in 2013.
