Can holiday magic transform this crush into a happily ever after?

Rudy:
I’ve had a crush on Alexander Dasher, the legendary ballet star, since I was fifteen years old. A decade of pining from a distance.
This holiday season, I’m assisting my mother with our small-town production of The Nutcracker, and guess who’s agreed to take the leading role?
Alexander is rehabbing a knee injury and looking for distraction. I teach him my favorite nerdy game, and soon, we’re talking and playing late into the evening.
One kiss is all it takes to nearly derail our growing friendship. Alexander is reluctant to step into the starring role for my first time. Even if our time together is short, I’m ready to turn my crush into reality if Alexander will give us a chance.

Alexander:
I’ve returned to my hometown after traveling the globe and establishing my reputation among the very best in the world of ballet.
My recent injury threatens all I’ve worked for, but I’m not ready to retire, even as the clock ticks louder.
Gaming with Rudy is the perfect diversion. With him, I’m seen as more than simply Alexander the famous dancer. Developing feelings for Rudy is all too easy, but he deserves far more than a holiday fling.
Our connection burns brighter than a yule log, but I worry we’ll both end up with broken hearts. The whole town, including our mothers, is rooting for us, but a future seems impossible. Can we pirouette our way into a happy ending?

On Dancer is an Annabeth Albert (author of The Geek Who Saved Christmas) holiday romance that will have you cracking nuts and humming along as an aging, grumpy ballet dancer encounters a sunny, younger production assistant determined to save their small hometown ballet company. On Dancer offers heaping servings of meddling mothers, quirky secondary characters, an age-gap, first times, and all the vibes of your favorite holiday romance movies.

Rudy is a young man in transition who has come home to Hollyberry to help his recovering mother run her dance studio. He’s a bit of a nerd, but sweet and trying to help his family. Alexander is a ballet star who has also come home from Seattle to recover from an injury. Their mothers are friends, but his is the first time they’re really spending time together. But Rudy has had a crush on the older Alexander for a decade.

Alexander is a bit grumpy and struggling with his injury and what to do with his free time, and is worrying about his future. When Rudy makes a proposition for Alexander to perform at their studio over the holidays to train and see how he holds up, he can’t pass it up. But along the way, they are spending more time together, and Rudy is introducing him to some of his interests.  Rudy never thought that his celebrity crush would be interested in him, but Alexander finds him fascinating.

It’s really a sweet, hot, age-gap, teenage crush, ballet dancer and nerd, coming home for the holidays,  holiday romance. I really loved these two guys together and how they balanced each other out. Rudy is such a caretaker, and Alexander had never really had that. And Alexander gives Rudy more confidence because he sees how smart and dependable he is, but also makes him feel attractive and interesting. Where Rudy has always just thought of himself as this kind of scrawny nerd and Alexander as this unattainable celebrity crush. But they go from playing nerdy card games together to an unexpected fling to messy feelings that make them question everything.

Boyfriend Without Benefits
The Jilted Exes’ Club #1
Riley Hart
Goodreads
Amazon
December 3, 2025

Anthony

I’m the last single member of the Jilted Exes’ Club, and I have no plans to change that.

I’m fulfilled with my work at the club, dance classes, yoga, and the Exes. Plus, I’ve been extremely preoccupied with one Kason Maddox, the LA Rebels’ goalie. Let’s just say that since we’ve become friends, my eyes might drift in his general direction a little too much. But it’s only looking. And looking never harmed anyone…

Eventually, our texting sessions lead to dinners out and ending our nights watching our favorite shows. But when the paparazzi catch sight of us and the photos go viral, I suddenly find out I’ve had a boyfriend and didn’t know—a boyfriend without the benefits. And I’m thinking we should reconsider the benefits in this relationship if we are going to be in one.

Kason

So…I thought we were dating. Turns out, the guy I was dating had no idea that’s what we were doing. Friend-zoned without even knowing it. Cool. The equivalent of taking a puck to the face.

But due to an innocent little photo or two, now everyone thinks we’re together, so we have three choices:

1- Stop hanging out to silence the rumors.
2- Hang out as friends and ignore the gossip blogs.
3- Start dating—and both of us are aware of said dating this time.

I know which one I’m rooting for. And if I have to use a little dirty talk and some praise to shift things in my favor, I’m game.

And it’s time for the final Jilted Exes' Club member, Anthony, to find his person. Anthony is still reeling from his horrible ex, but is enjoying his friendships that came from it with the other two Jilted Exes and their partners and friends. Anthony is still skittish about relationships and has lingering self-worth, trust, and abandonment issues.

He and Kason Maddox, the goalie for the LA Rebels, are introduced by their friends, but they did not have any expectations that it would be more. Their growing friendship is a surprise. And bless Anthony’s heart, but he’s just a little bit clueless about what’s really going on.

Kason is a golden retriever, cinnamon roll hero with a flirty and dirty side. He’d love to find his person and have a relationship. So when he asks Anthony out to dinner, and they are spending more and more time together, he just assumes they’re dating. But Anthony has such self-worth issues when it comes to men and relationships that he didn’t realize what they were really doing and did not think he was worthy of Kason's romantic attention. He has been guarding his
torn and tattered heart and has a fear of rejection and being left.

When they start getting some social media attention, they will have to figure out what their options are: Actually take a step toward something real, be friends with benefits, or just decide to be friends only.

I absolutely adored these guys together. Oh my gosh, Kason is just the most patient, kind, empathetic, but still fun, flirty, and dirty, talking hero. I loved how he handled the skittish Anthony and worked so hard to build him back up after he’s been so broken down. He was willing to be over the top, express his thoughts and feelings, and take all the time that Anthony needed to feel wanted, secure, and safe. He didn’t try to change Anthony.  And Anthony is supportive in his own way too and they share common interests, and they enjoy spending time together.  Anthony was a little oblivious at first because his self-worth just made him think that he wasn’t worth a guy like Kason‘s attention, so he didn’t always catch on to how interested Kason was.  But the biggest problem in the whole situation is Anthony’s torn and tattered heart and fear of rejection and being left.

But when they began to figure it out, my gosh, they had such amazing chemistry and are just fire in the bedroom. But the companionship, emotional healing, and the fact that they both found their person and were willing to fight through any issues to keep it is what is at the core of this story and this whole series for that matter. The friendships between Hayes, Donovan, and Anthony, and overcoming their shared trauma are the heart of this series. I loved their friendships and how they kept bringing partners and friends into it and built their own family. I’m going to miss these guys because I really did enjoy their stories, and I love it when the people who were put down eventually become the big winners. This is a sweet, hot, heartfelt, hopeful, opposites-attract, dancer/hockey player, friends-to-lovers, boyfriends with and without benefits, hurt-comfort romance.

Kim's review

Hayes

Proposing to my first boyfriend at a hockey game wasn’t my smartest move. Not only does said boyfriend walk out on me, but the whole stupid thing goes viral, and it turns out the man I was dating has too many boyfriends to count. Internet fame has crowned me a member of the Jilted Exes’ Club, a name I’d do anything to escape.

One thing’s for sure: I’m not making the same mistake again. No more boyfriends, just easy hookups. And I’ll start with this gorgeous catch in Seattle. The only problem…he’s a god in bed, and I’m an inexperienced mess.

Rylan

After a night with Hayes, I play some of the best games of my career. It’s meant to be a one-and-done deal, but when I find out he also lives in LA and doesn’t want anything serious, I see an opportunity.

Hayes wants experience. I want my good-luck charm to help me win the cup.

The media would go wild over a pro hockey player dating a member of the Jilted Exes’ Club—a distraction neither of us needs. We want this to stay simple. Easy. No strings, no falling in love.

Except I’m pretty sure I’ve already fallen. After all Hayes has been through, how do I get him to entrust his heart to someone who’s only ever been labeled a player on and off the ice?

The Marriage Policy The Jilted Exes’ Club #2 Goodreads
Amazon Kim's review

Donovan

What’s a little marriage of convenience between best friends?

I’ve always worked hard to keep the friendship line firmly in place when it comes to Eric. I’m gay, and he’s straight. We’re best friends and nothing more. But he’s my person, and there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for him. Which is why when I find out he’s struggling financially and doesn’t have medical insurance, I blurt out six friendship-altering words: I want you to marry me.

Eric

Donovan’s my best friend, the most important person in my life… And he wants to marry me.

Okay, so maybe I haven’t made the best decisions lately. I took a job with no health insurance and no guaranteed money, which was working out fine, if not for the whole getting-injured-and-fired thing. But Donovan has come up with a solution. Marriage. Living together. There’s a small chance we’re a tad codependent, but I always want to be with him, so signing a marriage license shouldn’t really change much. Until the kissing starts…and the touching…and the exploring… And all I know is, I want more. So much more from my husband.

Playing pretend with Donovan is the realest thing I’ve ever felt, and though divorce was the ultimate plan, I’m not sure I want this to end.

Content Warning: MC without medical insurance, discussion on the risks of not having medical insurance, discussion about losing a parent to cancer (in the past).

Review of Snowed in With My Best Friend by Carrie Ann Ryan

Cullen and Posy are both heading the same direction to visit family for the holidays, so when Posy's car breaks down the night before they are both leaving, Cullen offers to drive her. They are fighting attraction that has been building, but as they both value the friendship they have, they are afraid to change things. A fast moving storm has them seeking shelter at a roadside inn, and the proximity has them facing everything they have always avoided.

This quick holiday read has all the heart of Carrie Ann Ryan's Montgomery Ink Legacy stories in a novella. I was quite surprised at how much feeling built up in these pages. The story moved quickly, but had all the elements I always expect from the Montgomerys - cheese, family camaraderie, and so much emotion!

I look forward to reading the other stories in this anthology as this looks like a fun group of stories overall.

I received an arc of Snowed In With My Best Friend by Carrie Ann Ryan.

Frost and Fire
Book 1 of 2: Christmas at Hall Farm
Ana Ashleyy
Amazon
November 21, 2025

After decades of sold-out stadiums and never-ending tours, coming home to run my family's Vermont dairy farm was supposed to be peaceful. Instead, I'm being terrorized by my devastatingly attractive neighbor who's apparently declared war on me—one "gift" at a time.

A goat that won't leave my side. A rooster with a Napoleon complex. A hive of bees with serious attitude problems. The boy I remember as my best friend's sweet little brother has grown into a man with a serious grudge and zero intention of making my homecoming easy.

When a crisis threatens our small town's Christmas celebrations, we're forced to work together. Fighting our attraction while saving the holidays should be simple, right?

Too bad Taylen James has always been my greatest weakness.

Frost and Fire is a brother's best friend, enemies-to-lovers Christmas romance with an age gap, small-town charm, and enough sexual tension to melt Vermont snow.

Character teasers from Author's newsletters

Bastian Hall is coming home..for good this time to help his parents run their dairy farm in their Winterberry. He has been on the road with his popular band for over twenty years living his dreams but also running from past pain and his own feelings. He is loyal, patient, responsible, and ready to do what needs to be done for the farm and is done running. And that also means facing the boy...now man...next door.

Taylen Howard is the little brother of his best friend and is also best friends with Bastian's younger brother. He is deeply entwined with Bastian's family and they share past pain and some unresolved history and feelings. He is also hardworking, sarcastic, playful, and stubborn. He is finding new joy in torturing Bastian with special welcome gifts while also trying to avoid getting close. He has had a crush on Bastian since he was young and does not trust that Bastian would ever really stay. So he is guarded and runs hot and cold. He is also good at running and making Bastian chase him.

They are definitely fire and ice. There is so much sextual tension,  passion, and unresolved feelings between them. There are misonceptions, misunderstandings, fears, angers, pain, and guilt. The light up but then Taylen ices him out. Bastian has to prove that he is ready to stay and Taylen has to learn to trust. But there is a lot of push and pull along the way. I did really like these two together. Their past was painful and complicated. Their choices affect more than just themselves since their family and friend groups are so close. Taylen has to be convinced that he is enough for someone like Bastian to really stay.

This is an age gap, former rock star/farmer and apple orchard owner, coming home, best-friend's-little-brother, enemies-to-lovers, shared loss, hurt/comfort, small town, holiday romance.

I loved this small town farm environment. The animals even have big personalities. The side characters of the band and their brothers add depth to the story. It makes you want to just hang out in his Mom's kitchen and the Christmas festival. I am looking forward to other stories with these characters and a couple were already teased.

The biggest risk isn't telling a secret—it's keeping it.

It was a simple arrangement—no strings, no feelings, no complications. Just stolen moments in the dark when the world isn't watching.

Now I'm standing on his doorstep two weeks before Thanksgiving, breaking every rule we made.

Noel I Won't
DJ Jamison
Goodreads
Amazon
November 19, 2025

Will I give my heart away this holiday season? Noel, I won't.

When my first head chef gig implodes and I find out my dad has a health crisis, I go home for the holidays.

Only to find the lovable farmboy next door has moved in.

He's helping my parents run our family's Christmas tree farm. Has moved into my house. Has seemingly *replaced* me.

He may be gorgeous and a hard worker and even sweet when he wants to be, but I can't step aside for him. Can't let my parents continue to struggle with the farm.

Not even when we find new life for the farm--and for me as a chef.

Not even when Hopper warms my bed every night.

I might be falling in love--with Hopper, with my hometown, with a life I could never envision when I was eighteen and desperate to leave. But I vowed long ago that I'd never be happy in small-town Nebraska.

But when Hopper asks me not to leave him, what can I say except...

Noel I Won't.

Noel Grisold has been living life in the city and was doing his dream job as a head chef in a fancy restaurant in Chicago,  but then his life took a turn. He hasn’t been home for years, but under the circumstances, he decides he needs to go home.

But he finds out that the jock he knew in high school has now been acting as a surrogate son to his parents. Hopper Kelly lost his mom and his dad is unreliable, so they lost his family farm and he’s been helping to run the Grisold farm. He’s been there when they needed someone, and their son was not. He is a big, burly lumbersnack.

But now that Noel is home, they’re both feeling a little bit displaced as the biological son and surrogate son, and have a bit of rivalry. But the more time they spend together, the more they’re realizing that neither of them has bad ulterior motives. They both care about the farm and Noel's parents. They have amazing chemistry, and actually like sharing things together. And the town Noel left is a bit more progressive than the one he left a long time ago.

Noel still has his big dreams and never planned to stay, and Hopper never wants to leave. Will they be able to find a way that they can both be happy and fulfilled?

This is a sweet, passionate, opposites-attract, coming-home, holiday story with a lot of heart and just enough tension and heat. There are a lot of cameos that fans of this author will probably recognize (I only knew the ones from Christmas Falls), but they added a sense of community and more love and friendship to the story. This was a sweet, delightful holiday treat.
