What if a ‘Once in a Lifetime’ could happen twice?
Suffering from a past full of tragedy, Dahlia London's soul has been left completely shattered. Happily ever after is a far cry from reality in her world. But, when she is reconnected with her past, the bonds that form are irrefutable.
When River Wilde, lead singer of The Wilde Ones, comes back into Dahlia’s life, the intensity that fires their relationship combined with underlying feelings that have never died lead her to believe she has met her soulmate.

Struggling with confusion as old connections fade and new ones begin, Dahlia's grief begins to lift--but guilt remains. River wants to be the one to mend all that is torn within her.

But with a past that is never really gone, can their future survive?

Could I suddenly believe in love at first sight? How could love at first even exist when you were already in love with someone else?

Wow! What a debut! I am still reeling from the emotional journey. This book has so many layers woven into it. You have really two love stories, tragedy, pain, suspense, mystery, romance, and even rock stars. And we all love our rock stars.

The relationships are told with such passion and intensity that you cannot help but feel their connections. And you feel the love, the passion, the pain, and the hope that these characters alternately feel.

Dahlia and Ben had been together most of their lives and shared a connection that she never thought could be broken. They are best friends, engaged, and have always loved each other. Even a chance meeting with an intense rock star, River Wilde, could not change that.

When our eyes connected it felt like minutes, in reality it was mere seconds. At that moment, something happened inside of me. The connection was like nothing I'd ever felt before. It was an electric pull that willed me in and forced me to keep looking at him.

Years later, Dahlia's life has changed and a second chance meeting with River starts Dahlia on another journey. I adored everything about River Wilde. He is just a perfect swoon-worthy guy. How can you not love a rock star who is devoted, loving, passionate, and sensitive? He is witty, charismatic, sexy, and has such a vulnerable, sweet side. They are so funny, so passionate, so intense, and you cannot help but love them together. River is hanging right up there with some of my fave rock star book boyfriends now.

"I feel like fate has brought us together again. I also believe that one night, so long ago, just wasn't the right time for us. But tonight is."

"I never imagined I could feel so connected to anyone as much as I feel connected to you. I knew I loved you from the moment I saw you. How could I not? Loving you is as easy as breathing."

But can he compete with her love of Ben? And there are secrets. There are mysterious happenings that cannot be explained. There are fears, insecurities, and past events that effect their present and future. And as the book nears the end, you are left wishing that you could conjure up more pages on your kindle or that the next book was already out.

The book was well written, the characters are thoroughly developed, and the music lyrics leading in the chapters give you more insight into the story. I loved that we got both Dahlia and River's POV and an epilogue that will rock your socks off. And the fact she could give a shout out to a couple of my fave rocking boyfriends was awesome!

It is a book that you will just be pulled into and not be able to leave it easily once it is done. The characters and the story will stay with you. I am already eagerly anticipating the next book Torn and the other planned books in the series about some of the secondary characters that I am already interested in. This is an amazing debut from Kim Karr.

Thanks to Kim Karr for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review

“The connection was like nothing I’d ever felt before. It was an electric pull that willed me in and forced me to keep looking at him.”

Oh my gosh, Kim Karr and River knocked my socks off! I am in love I tell ya, in love! I have been loving the last week or so with all the new authors I am adding to my must be read again list and Kim is sitting pretty high on that list right now. Connected was another book I had not read the blurb on and went in blind. Kim (my blog partner) told me I would absolutely love and drool over River (as she totally knows my type) and I found the time to fit this book into my schedule. Boy, oh boy am I glad I made room for River (because like always she was right!), now if I can just convince Kim (Karr) to let me make him mine I will be in heaven! Congrats girl on the wicked awesome debut novel!

“For a moment there, I felt as though I believed in love at first sight, which I didn’t. And how could love at first sight even exist when you were already in love with someone else?”

I am totally that chick who is not into love at first sight. I do not believe in it, hate to even read about it, but after reading Connected I must say I am tempted to start believing. I was so invested in the characters that I was rooting for them to find their happily ever after. I wanted their instant connection to end with their forever. I needed to believe that love at first sight existed when it came to these two. I adored River and Dahl, loved them to pieces. Seriously, I can sit here all day and count the many ways I feel head over heels in love with River (I mean he is a rock star and he is beyond sexy and sweet), over and over again. Sorry guess I should wipe up the drool and move on to my review, which by the way will not be long because there are so many different layers to this story that what you see on the surface is not what you get. I do not want to ruin this journey for other readers, it is one you must experience for yourself, but just be prepared to know you will fall in love with River. Although, I will warn you, I do not share and once I have convinced Kim to let me have him he will be all mine!

So since I am reviewing Connected and not just River (sigh) then I should probably gush all over the book. What can I say, Connected fricken rocked. Kim Karr gave us a spin on her version of a love triangle, and for me it totally worked. Connected held me captive with its twist and turns. I love that there was a sense of mystery surrounding this trio. I had fun trying to piece together the puzzle, and while I did have my theories I never actually got them to fit nice and tidy. The story left us with a happy feeling, which I love by the way (not a big fan of cliffs that leave you panting in anger), BUT the book also ends with a cliffhanger that has you WANTING the rest IMMEDIATELY! I have so many unanswered questions and I cannot wait until Torn becomes available.

Best line of the whole book:

“I swear I won’t stop until your legs are shaking and every hotel guest on this floor knows my name.”

Thank you to Kim Karr for the opportunity to review Connected for my honest opinion.

I live in Florida with my husband and four kids. I’ve always had a love for reading books and writing. In college I majored in English and wanted to teach at the college level, but that was not to be. I went on to get my MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise my family. I currently work part-time with my husband and recently decided to embrace one of my biggest passions - writing.
I wear a lot of hats! Writer, book-lover, wife, soccer mom, taxi driver, and just the all around go-to person of the family. However, I always find time to read. One of my favorite family outing when my kids were little was to take them to the bookstore or the library. Today my oldest child is seventeen and no longer comes with me on these now rare and infrequent outings, but honestly I don’t need to go on them anymore because I have the greatest device ever invented, a kindle.
I believe in soulmates, kindred spirits, true friends, and Happily-Ever-Afters. I have many favorite things ranging from books – to movies – to words. I love to drink champagne and listen to music and I hope to always stay young at heart.
Connected is my debut novel and will be available at Amazon, B&N, iBooks, & Smashwords March

22, 2013. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

  5. AMAZING book... I knew something was off about the way Ben was "killed" and Caleb just seems to be someone you would want to stay away from. I detest CLIFFHANGERS so I definately can't wait to finish this story.
