A woman too afraid to commit. A man too hurt to love again. A passion that refuses to be denied. Sophie Redmond knew betrayal, she knew mistrust. She knew everything that was wrong with the world, until Damon Watson charmed his way into her life. The rules she used to shield her heart were broken one by one, as Damon showed her compassion and kindness. When no one else believes in her, he shows her hope. But is hope ever enough?

Damon knew trouble when he saw it. He was the sheriff. He could spot it a mile away and Sophie was trouble with a capital T. What was it about this City Slicker doctor that made him want to forget everything but those whiskey brown eyes and that honey blonde hair spilled against his naked chest. Can Damon put the past behind him and choose to love again? Reader Alert!: Sophie thought sex was a game that could be controlled with rules, but add a playboy who knew every trick in the book, and she couldn't help but throw her rule book away.

Caution! Sophie and Damon tend to sizzle on the page as much as they do in bed, so take care to stock up on the ice!

Kim's Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

From the first few pages you can feel the  of sexual tension pouring off the page. Dr. Sophie Monroe likes to be in control and has no use for relationships. She is closed off emotionally, feisty, smart and likes to be in control.  She has a set of rules for dealing with men. Damon is the town Sheriff and resident playboy.  He is a hot, cocky, arrogant, alpha, who also loves to be in control. He does not let any women really close. They have both been burned before.

"Charm doesn't work on her, you know, although Lord knows you have enough of it."

"Damon, I know your type, and I don't want to play."

But they cannot stop the fire smoldering between them and soon they give into their urges. But just sex. No dating allowed. But their pasts come back to haunt them, people are dying, and danger is brewing in town. They are forced to work together to complete the pieces of the puzzle.

I loved Damon and Sophie. They are both sarcastic, fiery, and surprisingly good for each other even when they didn't realize it. They had serious chemistry and passion. Maybe losing control together is not such a bad thing.

She stepped away from him and took stock of the cocky, self-obsessed man in front of her. The man who made her forget rule number one. The most important rule and the foundations of all her rules. Never lose control.

If anyone had told him he would have lost control like that, he would have called him a liar. Sophie Redmond was something else. She was like a giftwrapped box at Christmas. You never know what's in it until you open it up.

But I really wanted to shake them both at times due to their lack of serious communication. After one dramatic episode in particular where he regretted not telling her how he felt, I was all ready for a big unveiling of feelings. But he had the chance and nothing. I actually scrolled back thinking I missed it. But they just dragged on not telling each other how they really felt. But in all fairness they did have a lot to deal with at the time. They end up dealing with several really intense situations together. But  as danger lurks around the corner can Damon keep her safe?  It was a fast paced read with romance, mystery, and suspense.

My daughter tells me I have the best job in the world and at times I tend to agree with her, but when I have these characters in my head that refuse to leave me until I get them on paper then I don’t. The truth is I do love my job. I get to create a world of my own and most of the time I get to do what I want in my world except of course when my characters decide they know best.

Was this an easy journey to get to this point. No. It took a lot of hard work and believing in yourself when most times you want to give up. But I am really lucky to have had people who believed in me. I was really lucky to have believed in myself. So my advice to you is- never ever give up on your dreams. Life would be too boring if we didn’t dream
