Kim's 4.5 star review
He's a game she never intended to play.
And she's the game changer he never knew he needed.
The Perfect Game tells the story of college juniors, Cassie Andrews & Jack Carter. When Cassie meets rising baseball hopeful Jack, she is determined to steer clear of him and his typical cocky attitude. But Jack has other things on his mind... like getting Cassie to give him the time of day.
They're both damaged, filled with mistrust and guarded before they find one another (and themselves) in this emotional journey about love and forgiveness. Strap yourselves for a ride that will not only break your heart, but put it back together.
Sometimes life gets ugly before it gets beautiful...

My roller coaster of my relationship with Cassie needed to stop. It's not that I wanted to get off the ride. I simply wanted it to be less like the bone-rattling, headache-inducing, rickety wooden roller coasters of the past, and more like the fluid smoothness of the state-of-the-art steel coasters of modern day.
J. Sterling wrote the perfect sequel to the book I did not think needed a sequel! Actually I was afraid when I heard there was going to be another book. I mean she gave us a happy epilogue in The Perfect Game. What was she going to do, take it away?! I even PMed with the author about it and she swore that it would be okay...and it was...It was more than okay. I LOVED it!

First of all, I love Jack F'n Carter! The end of The Perfect Game made me sigh and tear up. Seriously swoon worthy! And this book starts right at that time. In a brilliant move, she spent the first part of the book not only in present time, but also giving us back the last mysterious six months of Jack's life in flashbacks and he tells Cassie all that happened. Cassie finally gets to know it all--the good, the bad, and the ugly and why it took him so long to find her.
"If this were a story filled with good parts, Kitten, I would have been here a long time ago..."
"I was trying to be honorable..."
"You and your right-thing-to-do ideas. You sorta suck at doing the right thing."
"I hear that a lot."
Ad then the book shifts and we this newly reconnected couple face the challenges of living together, busy careers, and life in the public eye. There are misunderstandings, mistakes, insecurities, and drama. But I did not think it was the "I want to smash my kindle" kind of drama and angst from the first book. That was good for me since the first book nearly did me in. This couple had to find a way to deal with the pressures, stress, separations, and outside issues to be able to move forward.
"I'm not leaving you ever again. And you're not leaving me. No matter how pissed off I make you, or how frustrated. I f***ing love you, and I'm not going anywhere."
I totally love Jack F'n Carter! He has really matured and is doing his best to be all that she needs, protect her, and prove his love. He is not perfect, but his heart is in the right place. He has faced life without her and does not want to go through that again. He is totally willing to "prove it." Cassie struggles in this one with insecurities and being in the spotlight. Sometimes she made me proud of her and other times I wanted to smack sense into her. But it was still obvious that they are meant to be together and I still wanted to be their cheerleader.
We met some new characters Matteo and Trina and got more with her friend, Melissa and his brother, Dean. Seriously Dean and Melissa are screaming for their own story! I love them both and their circling around each other and it just makes me want more. And you have to just love his grandparents and I was glad they were back as well.
I enjoyed every bit of of this book. I did not realize how much I missed these characters . J. Sterling's writing style is real, humorous, and flows perfectly in between flashbacks and present in alternating points of view. Her characters have depth, passion, and emotion. This was home run for J. Sterling and Jack F'n Carter!
I got fired from my last job. It's true.
I know you're sitting there thinking, "Jenn, how could anyone in their right mind fire someone as amazing and awesome as you are???" And i'd love to give you a good reason, but the truth is... being This! Awesome! is clearly very scary to other less awesome people. :)
So I said screw them and started writing my first book. And you know what I realized? Writing books that mean something to me is a million times better than working for my ass off for someone who doesn't really care about anything other than the bottom line.My soul feels more satisfied. My heart, more full. So thank you for reading, loving and recommending the stories I write. I think you're awesome- and not only am I not scared of other awesome people, I want them on my team.
