All she wanted to do was forget. Forget the memory of walking in on her boyfriend in the middle of, well, another girl. Forget how she had her entire life planned out. And, forget about being perfect all the time. Unfortunately, she was Whitney Vandaveer and despite the fact that she moved to the middle of nowhere – she couldn't.

He always knew he would never be more than nothing. No job, no money, no future. Cole Pritchett had accepted the fact that he would always be the screw up and he was okay with it. Until he met her.

Here's the thing they quickly found out – sometimes we all need a little help escaping who we think we are.

Author's Dream Cast:

Whitney – Julianne Hough
Cole – Taylor Kitsch
Mallory – Ashley Benson
Zeke – Drew Van Acker

Whitney is a city bred spitfire transplanted into the country for the summer. Cole is the black sheep with anger management issues who is also new in town. They find themselves in this small country town to get a fresh outlook and escape issues from their pasts.

Their first meeting is pretty uneventful, at least for Whitney. Their second, pisses her off. Their third makes them laugh. And by the fourth, they cannot help but be more interested. Cole is doing his best to avoid getting involved, but he can only hold out so long.  Whit wants to live life to the fullest and not follow rules. Cole wants her and also realizes how good it feels to have someone on your side. Their chemistry and attraction is undeniable. Unlikely friends turns to uncontrolled lust and a summer fling.

"For once in my life, I want to do what I feel like and just enjoy the ride..."
"Well, you better hold on...it's going to be a wild one."

I really liked Cole. He was sarcastic, cocky, tough talking bad ass on the surface, but he had an underlying vulnerability. At times he was more a lost boy needing validation and support since he never had it at him and did not feel he deserved it. He has serious issues with self worth and not feeling deserving. He has been beaten down, judged, and treated poorly. But Whitney makes him want to be better.

She saw the bad boy in me, and she, being the good girl she is, wants to she happens when fire and ice collides. As much as I want to melt her with my touch, I can't. She is too good for me.

"...I'm probably not good enough for her, but I'd spend every second with her trying to prove that I am."

Whit is sassy and feisty with Cole, but in her previous life she was the rich sheltered token daughter and girlfriend doing what she was told. She has been cheated on, taken for granted, and not had a say in her own life. She has to learn to stand up for herself and be who she wants to be. She is smart, and beautiful, but she needs Cole to help her find her own inner strength.

"When I'm with you, I don't feel like I have to impress anyone or say the right thing. I just get to be the person I want to be."

They both really need someone to believe in them while they face influences not good for them. And they are good for each other and balance each other out despite the fact that they seem like opposites. Positive changes happen, but sometimes that just adds more complication.

As the summer comes to an end, will they let it go or will they find a way to merge two very different lives?

I really liked the supporting characters of her mom, sister Mallory, and his friend Zeke . They gave this unlikely couple encouragement before they even thought it was a possibility. And the mean characters really did make me dislike them. I was ready for Cole and Whitney to take them down.

The writing is engaging and pulls you in quickly. It is a fast, cute read with likable characters and a good message.

Thanks to Elizabeth Lee for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

When I'm not writing or playing the part of wife and mother, you can find me dancing back-up for Beyonce, singing back-up for Miranda, or sunning myself on the beach with a drink in hand.  Here's the thing about being born and raised in a small town—you have a very vivid imagination!  Now, I channel it all to create stories where the girl always ends up with the right guy, first kisses are magical, and a happy ending is just that!
