Some things are worth waiting for…
Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.
Some things are worth experiencing…
Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.
Some things should never be kept quiet…
But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?
And some things are worth fighting for…
***Major trigger warning-this story contains rape***
Cole (Branded) and Kellan (Thoughtless) scoot on over because you now have another runner for that first place coveted spot of book boyfriend. Is it even possible to have 3 # 1 book boyfriends?! Anyway, I am absolutely head over heels completely infatuated with one Cameron Hamilton!!
I am totally kicking myself for not reading this book sooner...ugh why in the world did I wait so long?! If you have not gotten a chance to meet Cam yet, then I HIGHLY suggest you move this book to the very top of your to be read list. Jennifer's writing is beautiful and I found I was engrossed from the moment the two characters banged into each other. It was one heck of an introduction that left quite the impression. I promise Cam and Avery (especially Cam) will leave you begging for more.
Wait for You is not about the instalove. This is a major plus for me. Cam and Avery's relationship is real. There are ups and downs, and real growth. Their journey is slow building, but doesn't make it any less intense or intriguing. The chemistry between Cam and Avery is exciting as the layers of their relationship form. Jennifer's enticing character development wraps you up and takes you on one wild ride of emotional turmoil. I don't think there was one emotion I didn't feel while reading this book, and I am not ashamed to admit I had a few tear inducing moments. It was angsty as well as heartwarming.
There isn't one thing about the book I didn't fall in love with, even Avery. I adored her, running tendencies and all. My blog partner warned me that she would annoy the living day lights out of me, and normally she would be correct. Characters with the instinct to constantly run instead of staying and facing reality always find a way to drive me out of my mind. However, it wasn't like that with Avery. In all honesty, her history broke my heart; the pain I felt for her sometimes over took other emotions in the story. It was hard knowing what happened to her, but not really knowing. As the reader, you have no doubt she is a victim of a broken past that involves either rape or abuse (the clues are there), but holy heck not the specifics. Once all the facts are pulled together, it is easy to see why she reacts the way she does, and her behavior is understandable. Her actions didn't frustrate me as much as they made me just heavy hearted. It was sometimes difficult following her journey while watching her pull away from such an exceptional person, time and time again, but I got it. I totally got it, and I found myself rooting big time for her, especially since she was in such amazing hands. Cam truly was the perfect man for her. He was pushy but not in that overbearing kind of way, he was just so into Avery that he refused to let her shut him out, and this I believe was her saving grace.
I need a few moments (and I am warning you to brace yourself) to gush over Cam! Our hero had me from, "Whoa, you okay, sweetheart?" I fell so damn hard for this man. To say he had my insides melting and my heart beating faster would be an understatement, there wasn't a point in time in the book that I wasn't giggling or smiling at his antics, gentleness, or thoughtfulness. It was refreshing to read a book containing a man who isn’t a huge jerk, or so alpha that he had to control the entire situation. Cam was wicked sweet, hilarious, and sometimes so confident that he came off as arrogant. Except that as you dug under the multiple layers of him you knew that was nowhere near the case. I adored the way he approached Avery throughout their relationship, his easy laid back playful demeanor mixed with absolute patience totally endeared him to me. I could go on and on about the many reasons I am obsessed with our hero, but seriously, you won't get the full affect until you met him for yourself.
Cam and Avery's story was heartbreaking at times and yes frustrating, but it is also breathtaking. It isn't all sadness and drama though they are great together. They have some hot swoon worthy moments and their banter was wicked funny, which helps to relieve some of the tension. I need Cam's book like now, and I mean now. I will be jonsing until October when it is released, fingers crossed for an early release. There were many times in the story that I had wished we knew what the heck was going on inside that boy's head. Oh and I can't forget the secondary characters who were also enjoyable. I felt they played just as much of a role as our main characters did. I hope that they will also get their own stories. Jacob and Brit (who I hope gets her HEA with Ollie) were the best friends a girl could have. Not to mention they will both have you cracking up laughing out loud (Jacob was a freaking riot!).
Thank you to edelweiss and William Morrow Paperbacks for the opportunity to read and review Wait for You in exchange for my honest opinion.
