Can first love turn into the real deal in a sizzling new Fool's Gold story from New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery? Isabel Carlisle thinks she's cursed in the romance department. Her teenage crush, Ford Hendrix, ignored all her letters. Her husband left her for another...man. So Isabel has come home to dust off her passion for fashion and run the family bridal shop until her parents are ready to sell it. Then she'll pursue her real dreams. At least, that's the plan, until sexy, charming Ford returns and leaves her feeling fourteen all over again....

Seeing Isabel all grown up hits bodyguard trainer Ford like a sucker punch. Back when heartbreak made him join the military, her sweet letters kept him sane. Now he can't take his eyes-or his lips-off her. The man who gave up on love has a reason to stay in Fool's Gold forever-if three little words can convince Isabel to do the same....

Five Big Beautiful Stars to Susan Mallery! I have anxiously been awaiting Ford's story, not only did Ms. Mallery deliver; she also gave us Kent's HEA! Us lucky readers got two amazing stories in one.

Three Little Words is a deliciously fun light read. I was definitely in need of a lighter feel as I had just come off a very emotional read and once again, Susan proved to be a perfect choice! Ford, Isabel, Consuelo, Kent and the residents of Fools Gold will totally wrap you up in their world, sucking away hours of your time while immersing you amongst old friends. I was so engrossed in this edition that I read it in one sitting.

Isabel has been in love with Ford since she was a teen, and  has never gotten past that crush no matter how many times she tries to convince them both that she has. Ford however didn't pay much attention to his growing love for her. Our hero was closed off and didn't feel that he was deserving of love and happiness, so he too denied that it was anything more than friendship and lust. In the other books Susan hinted and teased at their pasts. It was so much fun getting to know these two on a more personal basis.  I loved watching their "fake" relationship blossom right before our eyes into something sweet and real. There was nothing instant about Ford and Isabel; their relationship progressed perfectly. Like those before them they had their issues and demons to work through before they could totally find their happily ever after. There is just something griping about a flawed broken man. I think Ford and Isabel may just be my favorite Fool's Gold couple yet, although they have had some tough competition over the years.  It was the small moments that nailed this book for me. Ford was so wicked sweet, even when he was making some decisions that made me want to shake him.

As always, Fools’ Gold is filled with charming intriguing characters, well written depth and development, and sweet funny moments. If you are a fan of Susan Mallery and have enjoyed the other 11 books in this series, than I promise you will fall head over heels in love with the other two Hendricks men.

My only complaint...even though I loved knowing Kent and Consuelo find their HEA, I would have preferred them to get their own book where Susan delved a bit deeper. There was just so much more I wanted to know about Consuelo.  She is a fascinating character, and the perfect addition to FG!

Now that I have had my fill of Ford, I beg of you, Ms. Mallery to please give bad boy Angel his story!

Thank you, Harlequin and NetGalley, for the opportunity to read and review Three Little Words in exchange for my honest opinion.

  1. Love all of Susan Mallery's Fool's Gold series and THREE LITTLE WORDS is one of her best. Susan writes characters that are strong, with real life problems we can relate to that keeps us turning the pages.

  2. It's a another summer hit that sizzles by Susan Mallery!

Wow, talk about having a wonderful summer! Susan Mallery does it again with Three Little Words. How could you not love Ford Hendrix and Isabel Beebe? They have to be some of her best characters yet. Isabel was in love with Ford when she was just 14 years old and he was engaged to her sister. After things fell through with Isabel's sister Ford leaves Fool's Gold for the Navy and doesn't return till many years later. You could say fate has brought them back into town at the same time and allows Isabel her chance at her first and only love. This book also gives you the story about Consuelo and Kent Hendrix with their story. What a wonderful book and a great way to end the summer!

  6. It has been a great summer in Fools Gold and finishing up with Three little Words is the icing on the cake. Isabel and Ford discovering each other within the safety of their 'fake relationship' is priceless. And for me the 2 for 1 relationship just made my day. I love this book. Everyone should read it.

  9. Susan does not disappoint! Her books are great and the Fool's Gold series is no exception. Three Little Words is probably my second favorite of the entire series (very closely behind All Summer Long from last year) but it is my favorite of this summer. I always feel a little sad when I have to leave Fool's Gold until the next one comes out. Anxiously awaiting Christmas on 4th Street that comes out next month!
