Betrayal. Retribution. Redemption?

Six years ago, tough-as-nails military contractor Bobby Taggart met the woman of his dreams in war-torn Kabul—a sexy, whip-smart war correspondent who approached him at a local bar, took him to bed, made him fall in love…and then mysteriously disappeared. In her wake, the terrorist leader he’d been mining for valuable intel was assassinated—then Bobby discovered his phone had been bugged. And he’s pretty damn sure he’s been played for a fool...

Six years ago Bobby "Boom Boom" Taggart and Talia Levine shared a week of comfort and lust and in the end he was left used, betrayed, angry, and as heartbroken as a bad a** alpha can get. She had her secrets, sense of duty, and agenda already in place before she knew him and had to go through with it.

In the present their lives are different and they meet again only to find themselves in a seriously dangerous situation. They have to work together and trust each other. Their lives and someone else's depends on it. It is a race to find her enemies, stay alive, and perform the most important rescue of their lives.

Talia is tough, smart, and has her own set of survival skills. But she is full of anxiety, grief, and worry. She has guilt about the past and about the situation in the present. It is easy to want to rely on Bobby who she felt a connection with and who is a good protector and strategist. And it is hard to ignore that she has still has feelings for him.

But Bobby still has lingering issues of anger and betrayal. He is struggling with trust, forgiveness, and his own fear regarding the situation.  He is guarded and times strives to be unreachable, but he has an inner vulnerability and it is hard to resist their intense chemistry.

She needs Bobby by her side during this ordeal and he has much needed assets. He calls in his team for reinforcements on this important mission. The team has their work cut out for them to get in and get the job done and keep everyone safe. There's threats, revenge, kidnapping, killing, and plenty of guns and bombs.

And even after the major action slows down, there is still more relationship development that needs to occur. It will take a lot for Bobby to be able to trust, forgive and let her in again. It is a big risk. He let her in once against his better judgment, and her secrets, betrayal, and abandonment left him feeling like a fool and had big consequences. Talia is willing to fight, but takes rejection hard. She knows trying to get another chance will not be an easy task. And there are also other individuals involved that impact both of their lives and need attention.

This was a romantic suspense, second chance love story full of action and danger, but also humor, emotions,  and steam. Bobby and Talia had a strong connection that was broken and damaged, but was hard to resist.

But is there something that can repair it and give them a fighting chance at a future together?

I enjoyed the team camaraderie and banter. There are visits from many of his friends from the One-Eyed Jacks and Black Ops, Inc. teams. But it also works as a stand-alone story. I liked both Bobby and Talia even though he could be really stubborn and she made some unpopular choices. I was able to understand her motivations at the time. I felt like they were a good match and really wanted to see them succeed and move forward from the past. This story did not just focus on the mission, but also relationship building, healing, and forgiveness. There was plenty of sexual tension, chemistry, passion, and emotions mixed in with the pulse pounding action and danger.

A heartwarming Christmas story from the New York Timesbestselling “true master of romantic suspense” (Romantic Times).

Four years ago Jess Albert got the news that her husband Jeff was killed in action in Afghanistan, and a painful void entered her life. The more time passed, the more acutely she felt that emptiness. But when Tyler Brown, former military hero and all-around alpha male, shows up a year after she’d last seen him, Jess gradually begins to realize there is one thing that can make her feel whole again—love.

As they’re planning their wedding and new life together, Jess receives shocking news: her husband is alive, under the care of a young Afghani woman hiding him from the Taliban. Even as he sees their happily-ever-after slip away, Ty arranges for the One Eyed Jacks and Black Ops, Inc. teams to make a daring and dangerous rescue mission to bring Jeff home. The hardest thing Ty or Jess has ever done is to let the other go.

When Jeff returns to Jess, broken physically and emotionally and with no memory of their history, they try to heal their marriage and each other. But as time brings them together more as friends than lovers, an unexpected development helps them see the true way home, to the people they love.
