Don't be fooled.
Don't make excuses for me.
I am not a good man.
I've seen things no one should, done things no one should talk about. Honor and conscience have no place in my life. But I've fought and I've survived. I've had to.
The first time I saw her dancing on that seedy stage in that second rate club, I felt my heart pulse for the first time. Keelyn Foster was too young, too vibrant for this place, and I knew in an instant that I would make her mine. But first I had to climb my way to the top. I had to have something more to offer her.
I'm here now, money is no object and I have no equal. Except for her. She's disappeared. But don't worry, I will find her and claim her. She will be mine.
Like I said, don't be fooled. I am not the devil in disguise… I'm the one front and center.
I honestly never expected that Nassir would become my fave anti-hero of The Point and Keelyn to be the most bad ass heroine.
Nassir Gates...He's bad--maybe the worst the Point has seen. He's smart, powerful, focused, brutal, and in control. He was born fighting a war that was not his own and has seen more pain and vengeance than anyone should have to. But now The Point is his home and he is the new King. He's got money, power, skills, alliances, and investments. And his newest business venture looks like it will surpass his others. But he really hopes it will entice "Honor" aka Keelyn Foster back to The Point. She is the one woman he has always wanted and the one that has the potential to be his match or bring him to his knees.
Six months ago The Point nearly killed Key so she ran off to a boring existence in Denver where she tried to blend in. But she could never hide from him and Nassir is determined to make her an offer she can't refuse. But there's a thin line between business and personal. Ideally off limits personally would be best, but it will be difficult with the crazy sexual tension and attraction they have held for each other. She is the one woman who his equal and perfect match. But she has no intention of losing herself in the shadow of a powerful man. She is intelligent, independent, sassy, and persuasive.
Key is everything to him. She is what makes the devil's heart beat and breathes life into a dead man. He is the only man who has held her attention. But she wants to win on her own terms. But for him to get what he wants, she will have to surrender.
But they've always been able to see each other--the true selves that no one else does. She makes him more human and is his conscience. He inspires her to be all she can be and makes her feel safe. He waited for her to be ready and has plans to firmly entrench her in his life. They are intense, volatile, and deeply connected to each other.
Jay Crownover managed to make me love these flawed, broken, but resilient characters, and to believe in the power of true love and fate. He is so bad, but so good at what he does. And she's got her own skills and goals. Together they are a strong, dynamic pair.
This is a page turner with multiple antagonists, many threats, action, danger, and some serious situations. Every time it seems like things might calm a bit, something else would happen. It is a wild ride and is my favorite of these combined series.
Some of the other inhabitants of The Point had cameos like Race, Titus, Reeve, Booker and Stark and some were just referenced--Bax, Dovie, Brysen, and Karsen. There were several antagonists making trouble. We met a new interesting female character who I am pretty sure we will see again in Stark's book. I can't wait for more with Booker and Karsen who have been skirting around each other for awhile. These will be the next two books in The Breaking Point spin-off series. Bring on more of these bad boys that are Oh so good...and the women that can match them.

There is something about the grit and crime of the Point that makes romance shine. Neither Keelyn nor Nassir have pretty backstories, but they have made a name for themselves in the Point and it is their home.
I loved these two hard. They had hard lives, made dark choices and lived with the consequences. Nassir wasn’t from the Point, and compared to his childhood, life in the Point was easy. Nothing was ever easy for Keelyn, but she knew where her strengths lie and how to use them to her advantage in the Point.
Keelyn stripped because she like wielding power. Sex was what she knew. Fear of what she saw in Nassir’s eyes sent her running to Denver, but the Point is as much a part of her as she is a part of the city, so couldn’t stay in the straight-laced, no nonsense life she was trying to form.
Nassir stepped in to run the dark side of the Point after Novak’s demise. He commanded the power and fear needed, but as he rebuilt his club and designed a new one, he wanted Key back at his side. And Nassir is not a man to sit back and wait for the things he wants; he is willing to go to despicable lengths to convince her to return.
This is not a pretty romance. Nassir’s background gives him a skewed sense of right and wrong, and some of the things he does to get her back would have crossed the line for any other character. The dependence on the underbelly of the Point means that both of them are comfortable stretching the legality of their actions, doing what needs to be done for their end purpose.
I love Key’s confidence and ability to wield her sexuality. As she finds her place within Nassir’s new club, I love both what his ideas for her say about the way he views her and the way she sees herself.
I could not put this book down. Literally. What was supposed to be an hour of reading with a cup of Saturday morning coffee morphed into a morning long reading marathon. Once again, the Point sucked me in with its grit, crime, and desperation. Key and Nassir embody the very themes the Point stands for. They are unapologetic in their roles and are proud of their reputations.

NASSIR
“What do you think of the club?”
Her soft gray eyes widened and then narrowed. “It’s big and fancy. You can’t miss it as soon as you drive into the city.” There was a pause and her breath hitched. “You named it after me.”
I grinned at her. She was the key to everything that mattered in my world and in this city. Of course I named it after her.
“All the members got a lock or a key when they joined and paid their membership dues. The men all have a lock, one that is either open or one that is closed. If the lock is open, it means the gentleman is attached, married, has a partner, but is still up for anything and everything. The closed lock signifies that the particular man is off-limits and must engage with another member on his or her own terms.”
She lifted an eyebrow at me. “And the keys?”
I shrugged. “The women have the keys, to the locks and to the men’s hearts. Don’t they always?”
She moved a little closer and our knees brushed together, and I felt it in my balls. I sucked in a quick breath as the mere touch made my dick throb.
“So the women can just go around unlocking and locking men up all night long? They have no rules?”
“Women make all the rules when it comes to sex, Key. You should know this better than anyone.” I wanted to reach out and pull her off the edge of the desk so that she was sitting in my lap. “They have the key but they don’t have to use it, and if a member with a closed lock doesn’t want them to set them free, then that’s it. There is no pressure. There is no persuasion. It should all be mutual and it is all facilitated by men and women that want to be here. I’m pay9ing a small fortune for the people that know this industry inside and out. I built a grown-up amusement park where nothing is off-limits. People love their kink. People love their sex.”
“What about you? Do you love your sex and kink, Nassir?”
I smirked at her. “Sex is a part of life; it’s necessary and here in the Point it is currency. Kink I can give or take depending on the person on the other end of it. I’ve seen too much torture and degradation in my lifetime for the extreme and dark to be appealing.”
I saw the questions my quietly spoken words fired to life in her eyes, but instead of asking them, she was the one that decided to change the subject.
“Tell me about this business proposition you had in mind when you came to Denver. You want me to dress in latex and spank people? You want me to get on my back and spread my legs while people watch? What’s your game plan?”
I frowned at her and couldn’t stop myself from moving closer to her as she spit the harsh words out at me.
“You think I want to watch you have sex with other people. Key? You think it’s been fun for me to watch you burn your way through every available and not-so-available boy in the Point because you weren’t ready for me? I narrowed my eyes at her. “Now, which one of us needs to have some accountability?”
She flushed pink and leaned closer to me. She might be scared of me and the way I wanted her, but she never backed down, and that made my desire for her burn in a way that would never be extinguished.

The Breaking Point series is a spin-off of the Welcome to the Point Series…
A note from Jay Crownover...
The Welcome to the Point series takes place in a fictitious inner city I just nicknamed “the Point.” The idea being it can be in any city, any rough part of town, and any run-down neighborhood the reader can see or relate to in their mind’s eye. The locale is the ultimate “wrong side of the tracks.” This series is a little darker, a little grittier, and a whole lot more fanciful than my Marked Men series.
The last three Point books are going to have a different look and different titles so they are going to be their own trilogy called the Breaking Point.
