From New York Times Bestseller, Corinne Michaels, comes a sexy new STANDALONE romance novel.

I’m not a one-night stand kind of woman. I’m especially not the woman who has a few drinks at a concert and ends up in bed with my childhood celebrity crush, Eli Walsh.

However, that’s exactly where I find myself.

What’s a girl to do after a drunken mistake? Run. I grab my clothes and get away from the powerful, irresistible, and best-sex-of-my-life superstar as fast as I can. His gorgeous green eyes, rock-hard body, and cocky smile have no place in my world. My life is complicated enough.

Someone forgot to tell him that.

Eli is relentless. Pushing his way into my heart, wearing me down, proving he’s nothing like I assumed, and everything I need. But when my world shatters to pieces, he holds the broken bits together. Unwillingly, I fall desperately in love with him.

He made me think we’d have forever . . . I should’ve listened when he said we could only own tonight.
Heather does not have much of a social life except to meet up with her close friends every few months.  And this time the meet up is for a concert from their favorite boy band from their youth, Four Doors Down. They are all set to have a night of drinks, fun, and music and to let it all go for a night. And Heather truly does when she catches the eye of a band member and her teenage crush, Eli Walsh. It turns into an amazing experience that sends Heather running. But surprisingly enough, Eli comes running right after her.

A night of fun is totally out of character for her. She is not a risk taker. Her life is full of responsibilities and she has a demanding job and little support. She is sarcastic, strong, stubborn, caring, and a bit overwhelmed. She is not used to being pushed out of her comfort zone. She is also dealing with some serious situations that take most of her time and energy.

Eli is not only an aging boy band member but also an actor in New York. But he plans to stay around his hometown of Tampa for a bit, so he continues to pursue the first woman who used his usual M.O. against him and bolted. He was not looking for a relationship as he has been burned. But he can't seem to leave her alone. He is persistent, witty, sexy, kind, and attentive. He makes her feel special. He likes that she challenges him and sees more than a celebrity. She is afraid she does not have room for him in her life and fears getting attached and suffering loss.

It was only supposed to be for one night. They lead different lives with different priorities. She is dealing with some emotional situations. He may be a superstar but he is also a man, so has flaws and is not perfect. They both have burdens, fears, and insecurities. There is pain and heartbreak, but also hope. But Heather's life has never been easy. Is it too much to ask to find something good and be able to keep it? And Eli's life is not without complications.

This is a beautiful, heartfelt story about finding love when you least expect it, fighting life's tragedies, drawing strength, and finding balance. I absolutely adored both Eli and Heather individually and together. They were funny, adorable, passionate, protective, and loyal. I enjoyed getting both of their points of view. The side characters added more fun and depth to the story. I really liked his brother and sister-in-law, her partner, and her best friends.

The plot was so much more than I was expecting. I loved the premise of falling for your old teenage crush, but there was so much more to this story...seriously that was just barely the beginning. I appreciated the fact that these were mature characters in their late thirties and early forties, and their issues were real. It was not some simple rock star story. It had layers, depth, and some surprises. There were things that were hard and unfair. It took me through so many different emotions, touched my heart, made me tear up, and  kept me captivated. I read way later than I should and hated putting it down. I loved everything about this sexy, swoony, emotional novel, and this just might be my fave Corinne Michael's couple and book to date.

Heather just wanted a night out with her girl friends, a night to forget her troubles and remember the crush on the boy band all 4 friends had when they were younger. She didn’t expect to be singled out of the crowd, invited backstage, and onto the tour bus for a one night stand with her favorite band member, Eli Walsh. But when she tries to run out before the night is over, Eli gives chase and isn’t ready to see the night end.

I really liked each of the characters as individuals. Heather is a rock to those around her, keeping things together despite knowing there was inevitable pain in her future. As a Tampa police officer, she faces danger daily, adding to the drama of her job by working directly with her ex-husband. Eli is an aging boy-band star and famous actor, splitting his time between family in Tampa, and his acting career in New York. He has remained single over the years of fame and played up the playboy image, but his family is his heart, not the women or the fame.

This was very much an instant love situation, and I struggled with the speed at which Eli fell for Heather, even as she tried to keep distance between them. But as the story progressed and the character spent more time together, their feelings became more believable to me. I loved the way Eli stood by Heather while she faced her personal challenges, the way he let her fight her battles, but was ready to step in when she needed someone to lean on.

By the time I hit the halfway point, I was fully invested in this couple and was floored by a twist that came late in the game. I wasn’t expecting more drama, but the way it caught up to Heather and Eli hit me hard and turned what had been a solid 3 star read into almost a 4 star (I still couldn’t forget that the beginning was tough for me).

I normally enjoy Corinne Michael’s writing and stories, and this surprised me that it didn’t catch me right off the bat. I was glad I stuck with it though, as the end result was worth the wait.
