Her past. His secrets. They have more in common than she knows.

Maisy is happily content with the life she’s built for herself and her young son in small-town Prescott, Montana. Her child is thriving, her business is growing, and her family is as close as they’ve ever been. But when a handsome stranger walks into the lobby of her motel, her simple life is swept up in a wave of affection for his gentle heart. None of those feelings can be trusted, though. She made that mistake before with another man. The man she murdered.

Hunter was a different man when he first saw Maisy Holt from afar. He took one look at her and ran in the opposite direction. But years later, he’s back in Montana and unable to keep his distance. He shouldn’t have tried to find her but he never was good at rejecting temptation. The promise of the good she could bring into his life is too hard to resist. Maybe if he can disguise the lies and hide the deceit, he can keep her from learning the truth. Because his only chance at a future with her is by burying his past.

Maisy Holt survived a tragic event and several years later she lives for her son, her family, and her business, The Bitterroot Inn. She is hardworking, caring, and an amazing mother. But she longs for the true, healthy love like her friends and brothers have found. But at the same time she is haunted, guarded, fearful, and has trust issues so she has specific needs when it comes to men.

Hunter Faraday has just moved to town and when he walks into Maisy's Inn, she is immediately smitten. He appears to be with her  as well. But he's also somewhat mysterious and secretive, and that is a red flag for her. But he works hard to work his way into her and her son's life.

They've both got secrets. She's not truly over her past, but wants to be. He's keeping things from her trying to salvage a chance of winning her before she has to deal with it. But once all of the secrets are out, will he be able to keep her or lose his chance for good?

I loved Maisy and Hunter. She had been through so much and managed to make a new life for herself and her son. She was caring, nurturing, thoughtful, and hardworking. Hunter might not have been as forthcoming about his past, but he was generous, protective, and loving.  And he did feel guilty for his lies of omission and I always believed his heart was in the right place. But eventually they would have to face some challenges and deal with issues from both of their pasts.

This installment was sweet, romantic, and was also a story of hope, healing, and family. There was some mystery, drama, and a bit of suspense. It brings back all of the friends from this enjoyable series and gives us a lovely epilogue into the future so we are not left wondering how our friends fared in the future. Maisy's son, Coby was adorable and stole every scene he was in.

I am sorry to see this series end, but am looking forward to new characters from Devney Perry. She has a way of creating such lovable, complex, strong male and female characters, putting them in the perfect setting, and throwing in enough tension, angst, drama, suspense, and mystery to keep you turning pages.

Maisy Holt has dreams for her son, dreams for her hotel, but very few unreached dreams for herself. Having lived through tragedy, she is happy with the things she has and the life she has built quietly.

Hunter Faraday is new in the Jamison Valley and though he vows to stick to himself, he finds himself drawn to the pretty hotelkeeper, enough that he changes his plans upon arrival in town.

I loved these two together. He is everything she didn’t know she needed -- protective, supportive, strong, and tender. She works so hard for the life she made for herself and her son, that it was so sweet to see Hunter step in, lifting some of her load. He is all those things, and though he keeps some secrets from her, his intentions are clearly in the right place (even before we know what he is hiding).

The secrets Hunter kept were not unexpected, but were still a shock to see in black and white. This was one of those plot threads that I kept waiting to drop and loved every minute of the anticipation.

There was sweet; there was sexy. There was romance; there was suspense. The ups and downs kept me rooted to Maisey and Hunter’s story. In addition to the fantastic chemistry and development of this couple, Maisey’s son, Cooper, adds extra sweetness to all his scene. Watching him interact with Hunter was heartwarming and made me smile each time.

This was a fantastic way to end the series, though I wish I didn’t have to type those words. Maisy has long been one of my favorite side characters, and for as much adventure as she has seen since we met her in The Coppersmith Farmhouse, she deserves to find some peace.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This series is a collection of five standalone novels following a group of characters living in the small, fictional town of Prescott, Montana.
