Review Tour: Royally Yours: Emma Chase

Princess Lenora Celeste Beatrice Arabella Pembrook had an unusual childhood. She was raised to be a Queen—the first Queen of Wessco.
It’s a big deal.
When she’s crowned at just nineteen, the beautiful young monarch is prepared to rule. She’s charming, clever, confident and cunning.
What she isn’t…is married.
It’s her advising council’s first priority. It’s what Parliament is demanding, and what her people want.
Lenora has no desire to tie herself to a man—particularly one who only wants her for her crown. But compromises must be made and royals must do their duty.
Even Queens. Especially them.

Years ago, Edward Langdon Richard Dorian Rourke, walked away from his title and country. Now he’s an adventurer—climbing mountains, exploring jungles, going wherever he wants, when he wants—until family devotion brings him home.
And a sacred promise keeps him there.
To Edward, the haughty, guarded little Queen is intriguing, infuriating…and utterly captivating. Wanting her just might drive him mad—or become his greatest adventure.
**
Within the cold, stone walls of the royal palace—mistrust threatens, wills clash, and an undeniable, passionate love will change the future of the monarchy forever.
Every dynasty has a beginning. Every legend starts with a story.
This is theirs.
This is a prequel to the Royally series that takes us all the way back to the making of a Queen. How Queen Lenora was raised to rule and forced to do so at a young age. But she was also isolated, lonely, and did not believe in love and fairy tales.
She only really had one real friend and he was kind, nerdy, and equally lonely. And together they shared adventures with his older brother, Edward in letters as he travelled the world.
The powers that be in Wessco are not ready for a young, strong-willed, opinionated woman as Queen. Despite her intelligence and confidence, they do not think she will be taken seriously without a man by her side. So now she faces a marriage of convenience and must agree to an appointed husband.
She never expected Edward to fill that role. Nor did she expect him to challenge, push her, and even rattle her. He never saw it happening either, but was oddly intrigued by the spitfire. Now they have started their own adventures and neither of their lives or that of the monarchy will be the same.
This story has sadness and tragedy, but there is also some fun banter and a true connection. They faced challenges and had to overcome things that no one should have to. It shows the more difficult side to being in the public eye. But it also shows that love and beauty can be found when you least expect it.
It made me want to go back to the other novels and reread about their grandsons again with a new understanding of the Lenora we never knew before.

This is the ultimate royal romance!
She was always going to be queen, raised to rule and remain calm and in control in the public eye. But when the crown came to her, she never imagined the sacrifices she would have to make in order to maintain the rule she had trained all her life to hold.
He wasn’t interested in the pressure of public life, preferring the freedom of travel and adventure. When he meets the Queen, he can’t help but notice the girl she hides behind the cool exterior she shows the world. That adventurous girl pulls him in and has him questioning whether his wandering days are over.
Edward was so swoony. I loved the way he was introduced, and the way they met in person. Their circumstances could have ended up so much differently had their chemistry not been so natural.
With the pressures of societal ideas, Lenora had to find a way to balance her needs with the needs of the people, but for so long she’s been taught that the country’s needs are most important. I love the way she shakes things up while also balancing tradition.
These two were so perfect together. They both challenge and balance the other so well, especially with the added pressure Lenora is under to perform her royal duties. There were several scenes that perfectly showed the challenges Edward had to face as the consort rather than the ruler, balancing his need to protect Lenora with her need to appear strong to the people and her advisors.
It was such an experience to see Lenora before she was queen, and also to see her Edward. Having read the previous books in the series, I had heard mention of him, but seeing them together as young lovers was a treat!
I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Royally Yours is a series prequel and can be read as a stand alone, but Queen Lenora also makes appearances in her grandson's books

Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka His Royal Hotness, is wickedly charming, devastatingly handsome, and unabashedly arrogant; hard not to be when people are constantly bowing down to you.
Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty who doesn't bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face.
Nicholas wants to find out if she tastes as good as her pie, and this heir apparent is used to getting what he wants.
Dating a prince isn't what waitress Olivia Hammond ever imagined it would be.
There's a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. While they've traded in horse drawn carriages for Rolls Royces, and haven't chopped anyone's head off lately, the royals are far from accepting of this commoner.
But to Olivia, Nicholas is worth it.
Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is and, more importantly, who he wants to be: a King... or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.

Some men are born responsible, some men have responsibility thrust upon them. Henry John Edgar Thomas Pembrook, Prince of Wessco, just got the motherlode of all responsibility dumped in his regal lap.
He’s not handling it well.
Hoping to help her grandson to rise to the occasion, Queen Lenora agrees to give him "space"—but while the Queen’s away, the Prince will play. After a chance meeting with an American television producer, Henry finally makes a decision all on his own:
Welcome to Matched: Royal Edition.
A reality TV dating game show featuring twenty of the world's most beautiful blue bloods gathered in the same castle. Only one will win the diamond tiara, only one will capture the handsome prince’s heart.
While Henry revels in the sexy, raunchy antics of the contestants as they fight, literally, for his affection, it’s the quiet, bespectacled girl in the corner—with the voice of an angel and a body that would tempt a saint—who catches his eye.
The more Henry gets to know Sarah Mirabelle Zinnia Von Titebottum, the more enamored he becomes of her simple beauty, her strength, her kind spirit... and her naughty sense of humor.
But Rome wasn’t built in a day—and irresponsible royals aren’t reformed overnight.
As he endeavors to right his wrongs, old words take on whole new meanings for the dashing Prince. Words like, Duty, Honor and most of all—Love.

A boy from the wrong side of the tracks...
But these days he covers his tattoos with a respectable suit. He’s charismatic, good looking, smart and trustworthy—any girl would be proud to bring him home to her family.
But there’s only one girl he wants.
She’s an angel on earth, his living, breathing fantasy. For years he’s known her, sometimes laughed with her, once shared a pint with her...he would lay down his life for her.
But she doesn’t see him—not really.
A girl endowed with royal relations . . .
She dreams of princes and palaces, but in her quest for happily ever after, harsh truths are learned: castles are drafty, ball gowns are a nuisance, and nobility doesn’t equal noble intentions.
In the end, she sees her true heart’s love may just be the handsome, loyal boy who’s been beside her all along.
