Dear Lady Truelove...

My twin brother and I need a new mother, though Papa insists he'll never marry again. Must be nice, brainy, and fond of cats...

Lady Truelove may be London's most famous advice columnist, but James St. Clair, the Earl of Kenyon, knows his wild young sons need a tutor, not a new mother. They need a man tough enough to make his hellions tow the line, and James is determined to find one.

Miss Amanda Leighton, former schoolteacher and governess, knows she has all the qualifications to be a tutor. And while female tutors are unheard of, Amanda isn't about to lose the chance at her dream job because of pesky details like that. If Lord Kenyon insists on hiring a man, then she has only one option.

Jamie isn't sure what to make of his new employee, until he realizes the shocking truth—beneath the ill-fitting suits, his boys' tutor is a woman. An unconventional, outspoken, thoroughly intriguing woman. Despite Amanda's deception, he can't dismiss her when his boys are learning so much. Yet Jamie, too, is learning surprising lessons—about desire, seduction, and passionate second chances.
Widower, James St. Clair, Lord Kenyon and the next in line for Marquess of Rolleston cannot seem to keep nannies and good staff employed to his rambunctious twin sons, Colin and Owen. He thinks the answer is a male tutor instead, but that is not easy to find either.

Amanda Leighton is in desperate need of a job. She is educated, intelligent, but made a mistake for love and scandal ruined her good name. So when she overhears Jamie is in need of a tutor and knows that no female would be considered, she comes up with her plan to pose as a man.

The kids are mischievous scamps who love getting their way. She might appear awkward as a young man, but she is tough, smart, and interesting. All seems to be well and good with the Lord since he is aloof, distant, and not often there due to his work in Parliament. She knows her ruse as a man can only last so long, but hopes that maybe she will have already won enough acceptance to prove herself.

Partial truths lead to new understanding that changes everything.  But she has other secrets that might not be so easy to look past, and could ruin the fragile new bond they have created. How long can she really outrun her past?

The precocious boys stole every scene they were in and I just adored them. Jamie took a bit longer to relate to as a man since he was so closed off and stoic, but I did come to like him as we saw more of his humor and feelings. Amanda was strong and tenacious, but had such a loving heart. I hated all that she had to deal with, but admired her spunk and how she bent gender roles to suit her needs. And it was fun seeing the changes in the boys and Lord as she infiltrated their lives with light and inspiration. It is a story about hope, love, healing, and overcoming mistakes.

I have not read the other books in this series, but this worked perfectly as a stand alone even though there were cameos of others. I do wish there would have been an epilogue as the ending seemed a bit rushed and I wanted to see more into the characters' future to see how certain situations ended up. But there is another book scheduled so maybe they will be seen again.

I received this book for free from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
