Review Tour: The What If Guy: Lauren Blakely
The What-If Guy
It should be an easy rule to follow - don't bang your boss...
But I didn't know who he was when I met him.
And the first time I saw him, our connection sounded like the stuff of romantic legends -- that whole "their eyes locked across a crowded room" moment that turned into more.
I didn’t believe it. . . . until it happened to me.
Fine, the charming, clever, sexy-as-sin guy in the tailored suit was only trying to buy the same Snoopy lunchbox (as a gift!), but still, our eyes totally locked, and my lady parts definitely tingled as we vied for the prize.
Naturally, I did what any badass business woman would do. Negotiated for the lunchbox, then found my what-if guy online and made plans to see him the next night.
One night only -- that was the deal we made.
But one fantastic night had us both changing our minds in the morning. And making plans for another.
Until I walked into the office to learn he just bought my company.
And here’s the biggest rule of romantic legends -- no matter what, don’t bang your boss.
Especially if you’re already falling for him.
This is a sweet, snappy, flirty, and dirty rom-com with a lot of heart and even a kid and a couple of persnickety cats.
Logan Clarke is a divorced single dad who has not really had any relationships in the past couple of years. He is busy with his financial work, his daughter, and his friend...and has trust issues.
Bryn Hawthorne is VP for a lifestyle website. She is smart, direct, and thrives on being a lady boss. She loves her work and team, and writing lifestyle pieces. Sometimes life imitates art and they test their articles in the real world.
They have an unexpected meet-cute moment but ended up going away unsatisfied. But what if? With a little help they find a way to connect again. They shared one amazing night that was more than they could imagine, but then the next day real-life kicked them in the a**.
But can they do the right thing and avoid the pull or do they take a risk and deal with the consequences?
I loved them together. Logan has been jaded and cautious, but she makes him want to be more spontaneous and brings out the dirty, alpha side of him. Bryn is able to be herself and be honest about what she wants and needs. They just get each other and are compatible in ALL ways. They have such fun and flirty banter, and their chemistry is hot hot hot! They are the perfect balance for each other during sexy times. But there is just one big problem that seems to overshadow everything.
I loved getting more with all of their friends and some fun cameos. I loved that they have cats with their own personal motivations and that he is an amazing single dad. I enjoyed the fact that they acted like mature adults, and believed in honesty and communication. There is not a bunch of unnecessary relationship angst. I liked that even though it was steamy, there was relationship development in other ways as well. It is just an enjoyable witty, sexy read with lovable characters. I am so excited for more with the hockey player, Fitz, and hopefully his teammate Ransom too.

Logan is a single dad, out to find the perfect gift for his 7-year-old daughter. Bryn is using her lock of kitsch to clear her mind in preparation for a big meeting. When they both reach for the same vintage lunchbox at the same time it sets off a chain of events that start sparks flying and their friends talking.
I loved the way they met, from the store encounter to the lead up to meeting a second and then third time. This is a meeting that goes beyond a quick glance -- it’s a glance that stops time. Logan is a little closed off about dating, and is unsure how to proceed. With a little help from their friends and a new app, they turn a missed connection into a date.
As strangers, their banter is fun and flirty. After they’ve met up again, the sparks fly in a big way. They find themselves a perfect match in the bedroom, only to have a damper dropped when they find out he is her new boss. Their chemistry is off the charts, and as hard as they try to keep things professional between them, the knowledge of what they could be is tempting. They know from that one night that they just get each other in a way neither has found before. But their work relationship is a roadblock neither anticipated and working around the perceptions and stigma is something Bryn isn’t interested in after all the work she’s put into her career and reputation.
This is a great rom-com, with a perfect meet cute and fantastic tension building between the characters. It has all the characteristics that make Lauren Blakely a continual favorite -- flirty, sizzling main characters, fun side characters, and quirky additions like a side plot of scheming kitties. But it also has a sizzle factor that goes beyond fun and flirty. This story fits into the The Guys Who Got Away world, and as such the cameos from friends are an added bonus. I cannot wait for Fitz’s story and maybe stories for a few more friends as well.

Let me just say -- none of this was supposed to happen.
I didn't expect the letter to go viral. I didn't think anyone would figure out who Dear Sexy Ex was. And I especially never thought he would find out about it.
Yeah, bit of a miscalculation there.
But see, I need the money to fund my brand new venture. And Dear Sexy Ex, well, it turns out he needs me to save his business.
By becoming his fake fiancée.
Yup, that's the pickle I find myself in -- pretending to be madly in love with the charming, brilliant, and utterly infuriating man known as Dear Sexy Ex.
Only, it's not an act. And he can never know.
Thanks for Last Night

A sexy new friends-to-lovers standalone!
Let me list the reasons why dating a sexy, charming, pro hockey star is a bad idea:
1. He’s one of my closest friends
2. All our friends are friends
3. The wounds I’ve got from past relationships go deep. And so do his.
We’re both devoutly single -- it’s just safer for the heart that way. But there’s no reason not to bid on the gorgeous, clever athlete at the charity auction this weekend. If I win, it’ll be a friendsdate.
And I do win.
I win him big.
And hard.
And all night long.
The trouble is . . . what happens in the morning?

A sexy, passionate, utterly addictive standalone MM romance from #1 NYT Bestseller Lauren Blakely!
Every bartender should follow one simple rule—don't go home with the customers.
That’s been easy for me to stick to, until the night a cocky, confident, and sinfully charming hockey star walks into my bar. This sexy athlete is too hard to resist, especially when he makes it clear how much he wants the “sarcastic, witty, hot AF” guy behind the bar—also known as me.
Still, I’m not keen on breaking my own rules since I know where that can lead—no place good.
But when that man makes his case with one bone-searing kiss on the streets of London, I throw resistance out the window.
What could go wrong with a hot, dirty, no-strings-attached fling before he leaves town in five days?
Trouble is, soon our nights together lead to days, to long conversations, to getting to know each other, and to something I never expected—falling ridiculously hard for a man who’s getting on a plane to America when I live a world away.
My life is here. His is there. And no amount of falling or feeling will change that one big problem.
Warning: contains hot hotel sex, loads of dirty talk, PDA all over London, and two sexy, witty, charming alpha heroes…
