REVIEW: Boy #1: The Wannabe Rockstar by Penny Sixsmith

by - Friday, July 24, 2020

Bestselling erotic romance author Stylo Fantome writing contemporary romance under the name Penny Sixsmith.
OH THOSE BOYS ...

Cassandra St. John's boyfriend broke up with her on Valentine's Day - after informing her he was cheating on her - so she made a decision. NO MORE BOYFRIENDS. They're only good for one thing, anyway, and she certainly doesn't need to be in a relationship to get it.

From a musician, to her boss, to Mr. Nice Guy, to many more, Cassie quickly discovers that just because you take the relationship out of the sex, it doesn't necessarily make life easier.

Sometimes it makes it much, much harder.

BOY #1 - The Wannabe Rockstar

Getting dumped x Pent-up sexual frustration + The rock god next door = The BEST sex Cassie's ever had, and even better than that? He's not interested in having a relationship anymore than she is, so they reach an agreement - this will be the one night stand that never ends. Perfect, right?

Except life happens when we least expect it, and the minute Cassie stops looking for love - stops wanting it all together - it comes looking for her.

A light, fast paced, old school, over-the-top romance series packing a sexy punch in a quick read! Oh, those boys .
I've come to realize Stylo Fantome can write anything, no matter what pen name she's writing under. She absolutely nailed her "dime store paperback" romance!

The Wannabe Rockstar was exactly what I needed. It's a quick, wicked fun read that I had a love/hate relationship with. I'm not going to lie, I wanted to knock some heads together a time or two, but man I really did revel in the ups and downs. Cassie, Micah, and Josh kept me on my toes and flipping the pages. I couldn't get enough of them and finished this one in just a couple of hours. Once I started there was no way I was stopping.

For those wondering, this isn't a love triangle. There's no cheating, as Cassie isn't dating either man. Cassie's all about avoiding relationships. She just wants the D with no strings attached. No complications. No intricacy. No rules. No restrictions. No feelings. Just a good ol' wham bam thank you ma'am.

I love that Fantome points out the hypocrisy at one point and makes Cassie so unapologetic about it. I had a fist pump moment here.

While the guys were titillating, I adored the hell out of Cassie the most. She's real. She's flawed. She owns her sexuality. She's OTT. She's perfectly imperfect. She's my new best friend.

Bad Boy vs Mr. Nice Guy...
In a rare occurrence, my love lies with Josh. I usually go googly eyed over the bad boys but this round I wanted all things Mr. Nice Guy. I have a feeling that man is going to be all kinds of dirty under those suits.

Anyway, if you are looking for a book with lots of rich depth and complexity this is not the book for you. However, if you are looking for something fast with a fun, sexy feel this one's for you.

Crazy woman from a remote location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.
