In this steamy, addictive contemporary romance spinning off the New York Times bestselling Dream Man and Rock Chick series, Ryn Jansen must put her trust in the one man she wants -- and the one man she can't let herself have.
Ryn Jansen has no interest in taking a risk on Boone Sadler. Thanks to a long list of men who've done nothing but let her down, Ryn vows to stay far away from the caring, protective commando. And when Boone confronts Ryn with evidence that her loved ones are conning her, Ryn is less than thrilled -- with her family and Boone. But even as Boone proves he's the kind of guy to meet her every need, she doesn't trust him to stay when life gets hard . . .
Boone Sadler's never been one to back down from a challenge. He's determined to show the funny, sexy Ryn that the irresistible connection between them is worth exploring. But caring for Ryn's heart and body becomes a matter of life and death when Ryn's beloved niece and nephew are put in danger and dirty cops begin gunning for Ryn. Soon Boone realizes their romance is in danger of more than heartbreak -- and to have any future together, they'll have to put their trust in each other.
I have enjoyed this series in part due to the same vibe and the cameos of the Rock Chicks, Dream Men, and Chaos. This is a newer set of commandos that work for Hawk and with the whole Hot Bunch. And these new women who work at Smithie's are finding themselves in the middle of trouble similar to the Rock Chicks and finding love along the way with bossy commandos.
Sure the storylines are familiar. There are various antagonists, mysteries, kidnappings, deaths, threats, and action. But the closeness and bond between the characters give it more heart. I love how all of KA worlds just kind of crash over into this series.
This one is Boone and Ryn's story. They have been set up by Lottie before but Ryn was resistant, so Boone moved on. Ryn likes to be independent and tends to take care of all those around her. But now Ryn is in need of help, and Boone has decided he will be her protector and finally claim her as his. He is bossy, intrusive, protective, possessive, and just like all the KA alphas. They have similar proclivities in the bedroom and have a fun rapport.

But Ryn is in the middle of a mess that began when she and the Dream Team were kidnapped before and there seems to be a ripple effect happening. So they all have to circle around Ryn, use their resources, and try to figure out how to take down the bad guys. And Ryn has other family dynamics issues going on, and her dream job is not really to dance for men. So she has plans for her future that she wants to be alive to partake in. And Boone has made it his mission to keep her safe and help her follow her dreams.
But he has his own set of demons he tries to keep locked down, and who knows what might trigger him. These two are both headstrong and a bit stubborn, but also truly care about others. Many times people take advantage of her kindness, and Boone is determined that will not keep happening. But the most important thing is to keep her alive until they can figure out how to settle the situation
This is a romantic suspense story with heat, humor, and a bunch of old friends. This series seems more like vintage KA and it makes it easier to sit down and get sucked back into the world. I am looking forward to more with Hattie and Axl and Pepper and Auggie.

Ryn Jansen is fiercely independent after being burned by relationships in the past. She has her own dreams that she would love to see fulfilled, but her family always needs something and she wants to help those she loves. She turned Boone down because she doesn’t have time for another relationship to fail and it scares her a little that she can see how well they would fit.
Boone Sadler isn’t one to sit around waiting, so when Ryn turned him down, he wasn’t deterred but didn’t sit around pining either. He wants to be her protector, and when he learns she has problems circling because of her earlier kidnapping, as well as family problems, he vows to be there to help her out of her jams.
These two are a great fit, even if Ryn is hesitant to give Boone a chance. They have similar interests in bed, and as they spend more time together they find they click out of the bedroom as well. They each have their own issues to sort out, some more secret than others.
I loved returning to the world of the Dream Chicks and Rock Chicks. The cameos and appearances by familiar favorites adds a little fun to this series. But at its core, this new group of women (and the men Lottie has matched them up with) has its own battles to wage, storms to weather, and antagonists to best. Dream Chaser picks up the series arc started in Dream Maker, but I suppose a new reader would be ok picking this up. There would be Dream Maker spoilers, but I think enough of the background for this story is included that new readers wouldn’t be lost.
In a lot of ways it feels like the classic Rock Chick stories, which fits as this is essentially a next generation of women following in the Rock Chick steps. KA’s worlds are rich and deep, even if the stories have overlapping themes and familiar lines. I am looking forward to more from this series. There are 2 more pairs that have been “matched” by Lottie and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for them.
From Kristen Ashley's website:
This is a mashup spin-off series from my Rock Chicks and Dream Man Series. In Quiet Man, you’ll meet Mo’s four best friends. And, Lottie (from the Rock Chicks, our heroine from Quiet Man), decides they need the perfect matches. And she’s going to make them! Let the dream making commence!
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Ashley comes a new story in her Dream Man series…
Charlotte “Lottie” McAlister is in the zone. She’s ready to take on the next chapter of her life, and since she doesn’t have a man, she’ll do what she’s done all along. She’ll take care of business on her own. Even if that business means starting a family.
The problem is, Lottie has a stalker. The really bad kind. The kind that means she needs a bodyguard.
Enter Mo Morrison.
Enormous. Scary.
Quiet.
Mo doesn’t say much, and Lottie’s used to getting attention. And she wants Mo’s attention. Badly.
But Mo has a strict rule. If he’s guarding your body, that’s all he’s doing with it.
However, the longer Mo has to keep Lottie safe, the faster he falls for the beautiful blonde who has it so together, she might even be able to tackle the demons he’s got in his head that just won’t die.
But in the end, Lottie and Mo don’t only have to find some way to keep hands off until the threat is over, they have to negotiate the overprotective Hot Bunch, Lottie’s crazy stepdad, Tex, Mo’s crew of frat-boy commandos, not to mention his nutty sisters.
All before Lottie finally gets her Dream Man.
And Mo can lay claim to his Dream Girl.
**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Kim's 4 star review
From the New York Times bestselling author of the Dream Man and Rock Chick series comes a brand new story about love, friendship, and the bonds of sisterhood.
Evie is a bonafide nerd and a hyper-intelligent chick who has worked her whole life to get what she wants. Growing up, she had no support from her family and has only ever been able to rely on herself. So when Evie decides she wants to earn her engineering degree, she realizes she needs to take an alternative path to get there. She takes a job dancing at Smithie's club thinking this would be a quick side gig, where she can make the money she needs. But with her lack of dancing skills and an alpha bad boy who becomes overly protective, Evie realizes this might not be as easy as she thought.
Daniel "Mag" Magnusson knows a thing or two about pain, but the mask he wears is excellent. No one can tell that this good-looking, quick-witted, and roguish guy has deep-seated issues. Mag puts on a funny-guy routine so he can hide his broken heart and PTSD. But when Evie dances her way into Mag's life, he realizes that he needs to come face-to-face with the demons of his past if he wants a future with her.
