Give Me a Reason
A Single-Dad, Enemies-to-Lovers Romance from A.L. Jackson
Release date August 30, 2021

From NYT and USA Today bestselling author A.L. Jackson comes a single-dad, enemies-to-lovers stand-alone romance about a jaded club owner and his son’s teacher…

Eden Murphy came into my club looking to make some extra cash.

A girl like her didn't belong in a place like this.

She'd get ripped to shreds.

Most likely by me.

There's nothing but sweetness dripping from her sexy little body, and I'm the monster who's salivating to get a taste.

Trent Lawson is the last man I should want.

Dark.

Dangerous.

So wickedly gorgeous he makes my knees weak.

He's also an arrogant jerk who happens to be my new boss.

When I discover his adorable son is also in my kindergarten class, I know I have to keep my distance.

But neither of us can ignore the attraction that flames.

One glance, and our hearts race.

One touch, and we’re aching for what we can’t have.

One night, and we’re falling fast.

Dragging her into my sordid world is wrong.

It doesn’t matter.

Eden Murphy is mine.

Eden Murphy is a sweet and caring private school teacher just looking for a way to earn extra money to help her family. When she ends up in the bar Absolution looking for a job, she got more than she bargained for.

Trent Lawson is the tatted club owner who comes off as intense, challenging, and dangerous. He has a dark past that haunts him. He tries to push her out of the idea but at the same time is drawn to her. He knows he is bad for her, but that does not stop the pull. And she feels the same.

That only intensifies when they realize they have another connection that allows them to see a different side of the other. And it also complicates the situation even more. They are opposites in every way and there are clear reasons why anything between them would be a bad idea and forbidden. But they also seem to have the ability to truly see the other person and make each other come alive.

The chemistry is raw and hot. It's Heaven and Hell. Light vs. dark. Want and need and a soul-deep connection that pulses between them, but terrifies them at the same time. It would be safer to keep their boundaries. But outside threats are swirling around them and Trent is a protector by nature. They are pulled closer together by circumstances, but other situations threaten to rip them apart. And Trent himself has so many demons nipping at his heels and making him believe he is unworthy. But he is also possessive, impulsive, protective, loving, and devoted and cannot seem to stay away.

There are twists, suspense, and surprises. This is one man's struggle to climb out of his darkness and leave his past behind to find his reasons to grab onto hope and light. He is so negatively conditioned and guilt-ridden that he does not believe in himself, so he needs others to truly believe in him and see the good he has to offer. And with everything going on Eden will have to show strength even she is not sure she is capable of. It's not just the little battles, it's full-on war.

This is a raw, intense, second-chance, bad boy vs. good girl love story with themes of forgiveness, family, loyalty, and unconditional love.

This also introduces his brothers Logan and Jud. They share this tragic backstory with their brother but seem a bit more well adjusted and are so loyal.  I am looking forward to more with them. I also adored little Gage...what a precocious little joy.

Eden Murphy is dedicated to her job and her family. She is a favorite kindergarten teacher and loves all her students. She wants to help her father hold on to the school that means so much to the both of them so badly she finds herself begging for a job at a club across town she would never otherwise set foot in. Absolution is the opposite of any place she’s ever been in, but its the one place she knows she can make enough to help her father out.

Trent Lawson knows she doesn’t belong in his club, but there is something about her that has him giving in and giving her the job. He is haunted by his past, doing his best to move forward and protect his son from the danger Trent once craved.

These two can’t seem to avoid the attraction between them - not for as much as Eden needs her second job, nor for the sake of her role as his son’s teacher. Their chemistry is off the charts and fits their opposites attract situation epically. Trent is intense and protective, while Eden is caring and sweet.

This was a heavily atmospheric story, with a poetic cadence that I’ve come to expect from A.L. Jackson. The scenes seemed to all have crackling energy that steered the characters along towards their inevitable, emotional truths. The twists and turns kept the story moving and drove a lot of the tension between the characters.

As the beginning of a new series, we also meet the men who keep Trent balanced and settled, his brothers. This series promises to give fans everything they love from Jackson while expanding into a new set of characters to fall in love with.
