The first time I met Max Yearwood was on a blind date.
Max was insanely gorgeous, funny, and our chemistry was off the charts. He also had the biggest dimples I’d ever laid eyes on.
Exactly what I needed after my breakup.
Or so I thought…
Until my real date arrived.
Turned out, Max wasn’t who I was there to meet. He only pretended to be until my real date showed up.
To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.
Before he left, he slipped me a ticket to a hockey game a few blocks away, in case things didn’t work out on my actual date.
I tossed the ticket into my purse and went about trying to enjoy the man I was supposed to meet.
But my real blind date and I had no connection.
So on my way home, I decided to take a chance and stop by the game.
When I arrived, the seat next to me was empty.
Disappointed again, I decided to leave at the end of the period.
Just before the buzzer, one of the teams scored, and the entire arena went crazy.
A player’s face flashed up on the Jumbotron. He was wearing a helmet, but I froze when he smiled.
You guessed it: Dimples.
Apparently, my fake blind date hadn’t invited me to watch hockey with him, he’d invited me to watch him play.
And so began my adventure with Max Yearwood.
He was everything I needed at the time—fun, sexy, up for anything, and only around for a few months since he’d signed with a new team three-thousand miles away.
Max proposed we spend the summer helping me forget my ex. It sounded like a good plan. Things couldn’t get too serious when we had an expiration date. Right?
Though, you know what they say about the best-laid plans.
When Georgia agrees to a blind date, she gets more than she bargained for. Max Yearwood enters her life and lights a spark. She was not prepared for him. He was nowhere in her plans...and she is very analytical and a planner. She is focused on her business and her love life is messy and complicated. Her back story is a bit different than one I have read before and it made it more interesting.
Max is a hockey player and tends to rush in and become easily obsessed. And his new obsession is the smart, real, competitive Georgia who is kind of resisting him and not looking for a relationship. He is fun, sexy, thoughtful, and a bit impulsive. But there is also an underlying seriousness that affects his choices as well.
He is determined to convince her to have a summer fling with no strings. And there are real reasons on both sides to have it end at the end of summer. But what happens if one gets too attached?
I loved these two together. They have such a fun rapport and great chemistry. He tries to make her stop overthinking and enjoy more spontaneity. She is real and honest and not tempted by his fame or money. They enjoy spending time together. But he has a few secrets himself and his life is about to change anyway.
This is a fun, sexy, meet-cute-with-a-twist, summer-fling romance but it also has more depth, emotion, and tension woven in. Things are not as simple as they might seem and there are definite challenges to overcome. The tension builds as flashbacks provide a window into some issues that you just know are going to come out and cause some problems. It's a story about priorities, choices, and living a fulfilling life. There is some heartbreak, tension, sadness, but is also hopeful, inspiring, and swoony.

Georgia isn’t keen on dating, but agrees to a blind date set up by her aunt. The hottie who sits down next to her is not what she was expecting at all, until she learns he isn’t actually her date. Max didn’t mean to barge into a date, but his instant pull to the woman he could see smiling through the window was enough to sidetrack him to offer an invitation to join him later. (This meet-cute was absolutely fantastic and I was hooked on Max immediately!)
Georgia and Max have fantastic chemistry, whether for the short term relationship they agreed to, or for more as they start catching feelings in their arrangement. They balance each other out in ways they didn’t realize they needed. The easy rapport they found made it easy to cheer for them even as it became clear that there were more hurdles in front of them than originally disclosed.
This was a quick read that pulled me in. I didn’t always agree with the characters’ actions or thoughts, but the pieces I didn’t like didn’t hinder the overall story or my connection to it. It was fast paced, full of surprises, and an all around fun story.
