Chance and Marcos...what a pair! This can be read as a standalone but a reminder for series fans, we first met Chance as Ethan's ex-boyfriend who left him to go make a difference in the world. Marcos is best friends with Parker and they are now working together at Pride House youth shelter.
Chance has dedicated his life to service so it usually took him to foreign countries but now he has found a way to still help out but also have some stability by relocating to Atlanta. He still is not over the loss of ruining his relationship and the mistakes he made. He is quiet, casual, scruffy, and cares about making a difference.
Marcos is a sarcastic, sassy, stylish, diva type with big dreams and a huge attitude. One of his favorite pastimes is teasing and taunting Chance. He loves to push his buttons and pretend he does not like him to hide the fact that he is low-key obsessed with him. Marcos' life is coasting along fine until a series of unfortunate events sends his world spiraling.
Chance is all about helping people and is easygoing and supportive. Marcos is stubborn, independent, and does not like to need anyone or be a charity case. And even when he is in a better place, he tends to be self-deprecating, self-sabotaging, guarded, and afraid of not being enough. But everyone needs a bit of help sometimes. Now that they are going to be spending more time together, they will have to learn to get along. But they both might get more than they ever imagined. They thrive on giving back and service, and have both personal and community dreams.

This is a slow burn, opposites-attract, age gap, forced-proximity, fiery, snarky, hot M/M romance. It stands alone, but we also see characters from other books in the series and I loved getting more with them. I also enjoyed the scenes with teens at Pride House.
From antagonism to electricity to true vulnerability, these guys are an unlikely coupling but they are so much fun and imperfectly perfect for each other. I loved how they both challenged each other but also grounded one another. It's about trust, safety, friendship, found family, and home. I loved the fire, flirt, heat, sweetness, sarcasm, and swoon between Chance and Marcos. Sometimes there is just this wide-eyed wonder about them appreciating that they have finally found the person that accepts them and their quirks and loves them not only despite them but for them with unconditional love and acceptance.
