This is the adventures of two hockey players on the same team....clueless, sweet, Himbo Dex and his dependable best friend, Tripp who has been not-so-secretly in love with him for years.
Dex has always thought he was straight but is also very attached to Tripp and sees nothing weird about that. He is usually happy, easy-going, and admits to being kind of dumb. He is scared of relationships and tends to mess them up, but Tripp is his safe place.
Tripp is caring, protective, and self-sacrificing. His other friends feel the need to protect him from getting unintentionally hurt by Dex, but he has been hurting all along just pining for what he does not think he can ever have and unable to move past it. But he also cannot stick to keeping space between them.
And then Dex has maybe one of his craziest ideas... but what happens in Vegas does not always stay in Vegas. Now their careers and reputations are on the line and things between them are advancing in unexpected ways. But what is fake and what is real?
This is a best-friends-to-lovers, bi/pan awakening love story with two hockey stars on the same team. There is a raw vulnerability, understanding, bond, and tenderness between these two. But they are also amusing and have great banter and chemistry once unleashed.
Dex is not the most aware guy ever, but it is beautiful to see how pure, honest, and serious his feelings are about Tripp even before they get more involved. He truly has a big, loving heart and this is his journey of self-awareness. I loved how he rolled with it. And it is obvious that Tripp loves him, but he is also scared that it will never be real and he will be heartbroken when it ends...but he is also powerless to stop. So along with external drama, they are also dealing with their own fears, issues, and lack of communication over some of the important things. But they are so adorable, fun, sweet, and hot together.
It brings back other guys from the Queer Collective especially Ezra, Anton, Oskar, and a few other cameos. I am looking forward to more in the series.
