Release Blitz: Platonic Rulebook: Saxon James
Release Date June 15, 2022
Griff
Walking away from my marriage was my idea of a fresh start.
My kid is in college, my ex-wife and I are on good terms … but being single in my forties is a world different to being single in my teens.
But my best friend, Heath, has my back like he always does and is ready to take me out and show me how the bachelor life is done.
He was never supposed to show me literally.
After we wake up in bed together, I can’t stop looking at him differently, and one thing becomes abundantly clear.
I talk a big talk about us only being friends, but my platonic rulebook has gone out the window.
Heath
When my best friend comes to me for help post-divorce, I’m only too happy to impart wisdom on him.
After all, Griffin isn’t my type, but even I can tell he’s a complete lumbersnack. Good with his hands, kind eyes, and a killer smile. All the guys and gals are gonna eat him alive.
But the more time we spend together, the less “not my type” he becomes. I’m the one who can’t get enough of him.
Griff has been waiting a year for his son to go to college so that he can officially separate and prepare for divorce from his wife. His life has been stuck in a rut and he’s now ready to try something new and explore other new things. He is an overthinker and he gets in his head a lot and change scares him. He is more of an outdoorsy and work-with-his-hands type so the repercussions of having to take on more responsibility in their shared hotel business are also stressing him and pushing him out of his comfort zone. But he is a man on a mission to find someone new to at least sleep with, but not to fall back into a relationship.
His longtime best friend, Heath, is invaluable to him at the hotel, but lately he’s been struggling with other family obligations. He’s a complete professional at work and knows how to run the business, but he also likes to play hard and does not do relationships. He is fun, flirty, charming, fashionable, and easygoing. And he is loyal and devoted to Griff and understands his issues.
Griffin and Heath are the best of friends and have been since their teens...but they have only ever been platonic friends. But now they are starting to see each other in a new light. A bit more flirting, some longing looks, uncontrolled bodily reactions, a little bit of jealousy, and the need for safe exploration lead to one night of ecstasy.
But it can’t happen again, can it? They have to think about the business, their friendship, Griff’s family, and Heath’s obligations. There is a lot of anxiety and guilt involved in the situation. They don’t want to hurt anyone, but at the same time, they’re hurting themselves by trying to avoid what is really happening with them. These two are actually really good together and you could tell that they had such a bond and that their friendship was such a foundation for a relationship. The biggest issues were external and I felt bad for them as they felt they needed to sacrifice their own needs at times.
This is a sweet, hot, opposites-attract. platonic-to-passionate, best-friends-to-lovers romance with a bit of a secrecy and forbidden component. Their friends in the Divorced Men's Club make appearances and I am looking forward to more with Art and Orson finding their matches. There have been a few hints about potentials.
