New York Times bestselling author Corinne Michaels brings you a new small-town, brother’s best friend romance.

In one second, my life disappeared.

My past. My memories. My future.

The only certainty I have from the last three years is that my older brother is dead, and I am the only eyewitness.

In order to protect the case, the lawyers demand that no one give me any information about my life . . . I must remember on my own. My only help comes from my brother’s best friend and world-renowned investigative reporter, Spencer Cross.

He has no idea how many nights I’ve spent dreaming of his name—and his body—next to mine.

Now we’re a team and our goal is to recover my memories and retrace my past. But each day we spend together, he’s looking at me as more than his friend’s little sister and I find it harder to want my old life back. Instead I’m wishing for a new one–with him. His kiss feels like home. His arms make me feel safe, and I never want this to end.

As my memories return, forcing me to face my future, everything falls apart... especially when I find an engagement ring hidden in my apartment. I have no idea who gave it to me, or what it means about my past.

I may have asked Spencer to help me remember, but now I wish I could forget.

It’s not such a secret that Corinne Michaels can be just mean. She loves to shred our hearts and then start putting them back together. This book starts right off by grabbing you with an intense and unimaginable situation.

Now Brielle Davis has to reconstruct her life and figure out what she has been doing in the past. The people around her have to be careful not to influence her memories but they are there for her. Her brother's best friends Spencer, Emmett, and Holden surround her with protection and care.

She needs answers. They all need answers. And it’s going to take retracing her past and putting the pieces together in order to figure out what caused this event. Brielle is struggling to figure out who she is and who she wants to be. And also unravel small clues about what is happening in her romantic life. It’s sad and heartbreaking, but it’s also captivating, inspiring, and romantic. There is a mystery they’re trying to solve and at the core of it, Brielle is just trying to be brave and take her life back. She just has to figure out how all the people and the pieces fit.

Her friends are just trying to protect her and her case, so they have to let her memories return on their own. But for one of them, the secrets are eating him alive. Spencer promised never to lie to her and is now forced to make hard decisions that could ruin the very close bond they’ve been forming. My heart broke for him. He was in such a bad spot, no matter what he did it wasn’t going to be the right answer for everyone. So he has to self-sacrifice for her often and risk breaking her trust. He is such a wonderful guy and his struggles and pain were so real and raw. I felt terrible for her too. She is in a constant state of feeling like she is letting everyone down and is just so lost. But she is determined and has an inner strength about her. And honestly, the other friends are also very protective and just want what was best for her.

It slowly unravels piece by piece throughout the story. We are learning things just as Brielle is remembering them so it adds to the mystery, suspense, and drama. I was completely drawn into this compelling story.

And to help cover the danger and suspense element are some familiar characters making cameos. It was fun to hang out with some of them again. I will admit towards the end there were a few actions of a character that had me yelling at my kindle and frustrating me. But overall, I really enjoyed this unique and powerful journey with these characters.

I am looking forward to the next book that was teased and hopefully a third for the last friend. I really liked Spencer, Emmett, and Holden. Her sister-in-law Addison was also very special.
