Release Date June 6, 2023

Hendrix Batemen is one of The Lucky Three, a trio of players who were not on the Titan’s team plane the night it crashed. Feeling as if he’s been given a second chance, Hendrix is determined to make the most out of his life, but that doesn’t mean he’s not suffering from scars that can’t be seen.

When I lost my Titan brothers in the crash, it was a mixed bag of emotions. I was devastated and grief stricken, but I was also grateful to be alive. Yeah, that might cause a little—okay, a lot of—guilt, but now I’m determined to live each day as if it’s my last.

A night out with friends puts me in the crosshairs of Stevie Kisner—the devastatingly beautiful bar owner with a sharp tongue and a fire in her eyes that lets me know she has zero tolerance for guys like me. I’ve never been one to back away from a challenge, so I’m not dissuaded by Stevie’s tough as nails attitude or her big biker dad who looks like he wants to kill me. Fueled by too many shots and the raucous urging of my teammates, I set out to show Stevie I’ve got game both on and off the ice.

While I shouldn’t be looking for anything more than a good time, I can’t help but be captivated by Stevie. She’s cool as hell and we burn hot together. But the more I get to know her, the more I can tell she’s holding something in reserve, and let’s just say I’ve got some trust issues after my last disastrous attempt at a relationship. Now I need to decide if I’m going to let my past dictate my future or if I am willing to put my heart on the line to find out if Stevie is exactly what I think she is—my everything.

Hendrix Bateman is one of the "lucky three" survivors of the team since he was not on the team plane that crashed. He also had another significant loss in his past. He has been taking life more seriously and trying to make a relationship work with his current girlfriend but it is just not right at all. He is charismatic, likable, and determined.

Stevie is a tough, smart, independent bar owner who is the total opposite of his usual type.  And she just happens to catch Hendrix's eye right after dumping his girlfriend. Stevie is guarded and snarky, but there is just something about her that makes him want to fight for a first date.

Neither expected to want to develop a real relationship. But these two move pretty fast and have great banter and chemistry, and also find themselves becoming vulnerable. But Stevie has abandonment issues and something going on in her life that she is keeping from others. And Hendrix has been used before and also has some survivor's guilt. Things seem to be developing perfectly, but they both have their triggers just waiting to be tripped. It's a bit predictable and you can just feel it coming, but it is interesting to see just how they will react to challenges and perceived betrayals.

This brings back much of the team and their significant others. I also loved Stevie's intimidating dad and his aunt Rory. I am looking forward to Camden next.

Hendrix is one of the “Lucky Three” who survived the plane crash that took the lives of the rest of the Pittsburgh Titans. Hendrix has always counted himself lucky to have not been on that trip, but he has scars he keeps hidden too. He works hard at everything in his life, from hockey to relationships, but while the first is working out well, he has not had great luck on the second.

Stevie owns and runs a bar that has a small but loyal clientele that was started by her grandfather. She is fierce, independent, and isn’t looking for a relationship -- she doesn’t have time in her life for distractions. She has some emotional baggage she hides as best she can, but she also doesn’t let her past hold her back.

I loved the opposites attract nature of these two and the way they just clicked together. Their banter and chemistry was fantastic. I wanted to shake each of them at different points, but in the end I love the way they worked things out.

It was fun to return to the Titans world. Hendrix’s teammates are always up for some fun, and the group has really started gelling off the ice and it was fun to watch them band together when they weren’t playing. I feel like Hendrix was the least previewed of the Lucky 3, and though he was a solid guy, he sometimes felt a little on the light side.

I had the pleasure of listening to the audio to preview this book. The narrators do a great job of voicing the characters and giving extra life to the story.

👉 Audio will be available exclusively on the Sawyer Bennett Bookstore for approximately 90 days before releasing at all retailers and libraries (excluding Audible). Hendrix is narrated by Tor Thom and CJ Bloom. Audio purchase from the Sawyer Bennett Bookstore must be enjoyed within the BookFunnel app (which is VERY user friendly and FREE!).
