Now these two are forming an unlikely friendship to cover up their mutual crushes. Devyn's life is really complicated with obligations and it’s about to get even more so. And she has abandonment, trust, and attachment issues. But Owen is kind, caring, supportive, and fun, and he is totally enamored of Devyn even with the mess that is her life. And now they’re dealing with even more challenges and surprises. I loved these two together. Devyn is devoted and strong. Owen is the sweetest, most charming hero.

A man who never expected to find the one and fall in love. A woman with a whole lot on her plate who does not even live in New York. There are plenty of family dynamics, challenges, and nosy but supportive friends. It brings back the rest of the crew of friends Colby, Holden, Brayden, Billie, and Lala. I am interested to find out Brayden's story. There was a little hint in this one.
Owen is all for watching his friends fall in love while staying aloof himself. He isn’t looking for a serious relationship, but is always up for fun. He has his hands full with real estate projects and sales, and his friends’ families give him all the relationships he needs in his life.
Devyn is only in the building temporarily, but her arrival was perfectly timed to hopefully keep the roof over her family’s head, though for her comfort level it probably would have helped if she had met the landlord before she had a one-night stand. Not in her usual MO, she was uncomfortable with the impulsivity and the connection that seemed to come from nowhere, and that was before she realized she would be seeing him on a daily basis.
This was such a fun read. I loved the way they met in the bar (Devyn’s friend sounds like a hoot to hang out with!) and also the way they met again later. From the hijinx of the kids to the seriousness of the situation that brought Devyn to the building there was always something going on that kept the story rolling. Owen and Devyn were so perfect together that I couldn’t help but root for them as they faced each challenge in front of them. There were some pretty heavy moments, and some moments that made them face reality in big uncomfortable ways, but through it all these two were a perfect pair.
I think this has been my favorite of this series as far as pure entertainment goes, but I cannot wait for more from this series. I feel like there were little hints teased for the next book and I have my own hopes for that one!
