These two seem to be different in so many ways, but they also share some similarities that have shaped who they are, and others that could make them incompatible. 

Gavin Racine is a workaholic General Manager and Director of Hockey Operations for the Boston Harriers. He is driven, focused, stubborn, intelligent, and opinionated alpha. He uses work to avoid thinking about his past and to rise above it. And he is focused on building a winning team.

Dakota Crane is still dealing with the repercussions of his life that imploded, and is making a fresh start in Boston. And his sister was able to get him a job as the yoga and Pilates instructor for the Harriers. He is smart, untrusting, direct, and also likes control. He does not want anyone to railroad or stifle him again. 

Their first meeting puts them at odds, and Dakota is very aware that Gavin is not happy about him being hired. But eventually a mutual respect and attraction form, leading to some risky, lusty hook-ups and a forbidden, secret, non-relationship agreement between two busy men afraid of relationships. These two have a dynamic that includes them both being willful, and they thrive on power exchanges and adrenaline. 

I loved seeing these two gain respect, appreciation, trust, support, and begin to feel again. Gavin gives Dakota the respect and control he craves, but is also generous, caring, and thoughtful. And Dakota allows Gavin a safe space to unload his pain and try to help him make amends, while also making him feel alive, appreciated, and cared for. They are so good together despite the fact that their lives have some definite differences, challenges, and complications. And they both have painful situations from their pasts that have marked them. 

This is a forbidden, boss-employee, hockey staff romance about trust, change, healing, acceptance, care, and respect. Their chemistry is undeniable, their feelings grow throughout, and together they support and allow the other to be the person they want to be with less baggage and more hope for a happier future. 

I enjoyed getting more with the Harriers and liked Dakota's sister, Violet, and Gavin's twin brother, Thad. I am looking forward to more with some guys who were teased and the continued building of this team.
