Dean
I’ve been stalking Tiernan O’Shea online for years.
After Sloan O’Shea killed my dad, my mom and I spent years in hiding, moving from state to state, changing our names, never drawing attention to ourselves, hoping to never be found.
I’ve fed off nothing but vengeance ever since.
Tiernan O’Shea is exactly like his father—arrogant, rich, ruthless.
The plan is simple: Get accepted to Ashford U. Get close to Tiernan. Get him to trust me. And then, when he brings me home to his father, I’ll take my revenge on Sloan O’Shea.
What I don’t expect is discovering the secret side of Tiernan, the parts he doesn’t show the rest of the world. He’s as beautiful as he is brutal—deadly, yes, but he’s also the kind of man who would do anything for those he loves. We’re alike in ways I never imagined. And when he touches me, kisses me…it makes me feel like I matter.
I’ve spent my whole life hoping to even the score, but now my revenge will be bittersweet because it’ll make me lose the only man I’ve ever loved.
Content Warning: Bittersweet Revenge contains violence, darker themes, and morally gray characters with no redemption arc. This is still a Riley Hart romance though, so you can expect a happily ever after for our guys.
Dean is an angry and untrusting young man set on revenge against the Mafia family that killed his father. So he’s enrolled in the same college as the Mafia offspring and is determined to get close to them.
He didn’t even have to try with the daughter since she is naturally friendly, and she befriended him pretty quickly. But his real target was her brother, Tiernan O'Shea. He is arrogant, rich, ruthless, angry, intense, controlling, and under a lot of pressure from the Mafia Patriarch, but he’s also protective, especially of his sister and mother.
Something about the two guys just called to each other and there is a magnetic pull that neither can seem to fight or forget about. The little fighter versus the little Lord. They’re both edgy, bitter, sarcastic, and they thrive on challenging each other and power exchanges. But they are also old souls, like to read, and are more alike than they thought. So there’s this underlying sexual tension and chemistry, and intensity to their physical interludes, as well as a feisty banter and constant one-upping each other. They are obsessive and possessive, feral, snarky, challenging, and become deeply entrenched in each other's daily lives. But Tiernan's family runs a dangerous world. And Dean is very well aware of that fact since he and his mother escaped it.
Secrets, lies, vengeance goals, and an unexpected connection and feelings lead to a complicated and dangerous mess.
What happens if Dean's secrets are found out? Or if Dean has to choose between love and new found family versus vengeance, what will win?
This is a fiery, raw, intense, hurt-comfort, hidden identity, college-age, mafia romance centered on revenge, passion, secrets, and lies. I am hit or miss sometimes with darker books or mafia stories, but the connection between the characters in this one really interested and intrigued me.
It also introduces Tiernan's family with his sister, Aislin, cousin, Cillian, and best friend, Rory. And Dean also makes friends with his college roommate, Ollie. It kept me invested in their relationships and trying to figure out how it would all end up. I am definitely interested in reading more with these characters in this series.

Riley Hart's love of all things romance shines brightly in everything she writes. Her primary focus is Male/Male romance but under various pen names, her prose has touched practically every part of the spectrum of love and relationships. The common theme that ties them all together is stories told from the heart.
A hopeless romantic herself, Riley is a lover of character-driven plots, many with flawed and relatable characters. She strives to create stories that readers can not only fall in love with, but also see themselves in. Real characters and real love blended together equal the ultimate Riley Hart experience.
When Riley isn't creating her next story, you can find her reading, traveling, or dreaming about reading or traveling, spending time with her two snarky kids, and swoony husband.
Riley Hart is represented by Jane Dystel at Dystel, Goderich & Bourret Literary Management. She's a 2019 Lambda Literary Award Finalist for Of Sunlight and Stardust.
