Nicholas is the younger half-brother of the Prince of Wales, and he was recently promoted up in the order of succession due to some family scandals. He is charming, witty, and puts on a good face for the Monarchy. But he is also known as the Party Prince, reckless, and a risk-taker. 

Eoinn O'Connell is a Scotland Yard undercover detective now on special assignment as an undercover protection officer for the Prince while he is on tour since the Prince seems to have a target on his back and possibly a traitor on his team. Eoinn is grumpy, judgmental, observant, and immediately takes a disliking to the Prince he thinks is arrogant, entitled, and trying to make his life miserable. 

They are snarky, antagonistic, and hate each other for who they think the other is. Nicholas breaks the rules and takes risks, and thrives on flirting with and irritating the broody Irishman. Poor Eoinn tries to be his detached, professional self and do his job, but it's hard to avoid the temptation. And he also is harboring secrets.

And during their tour adventures, these two are starting to see under each other's facades, develop trust and an unexpected connection, and start falling for each other against their will.

This is a feisty, forbidden, mysterious, suspenseful, twisty, bodyguard and Prince, enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, love on the run romance between two men who seem like opposites but do find common ground.  It's about unpeeling layers,  principles, and purpose. 

It brings back more with previous characters, especially Prince Callum and Oliver, and ties into Harry and Toby's story as well. I will admit that it took me a bit to get into it at first, and I was concerned since it was kind of a long book.  But once it got going, I did get invested in the characters, plot, and mystery. I  really ended up liking these two together. It kept me guessing and trying to figure out who was going to be the bad guy(s) and why, and some of the twists did surprise me.
