When my hockey teammate, the recently widowed Tanner Chance, loses his job, he and his four kids are left with no medical coverage.
So I suggest a wild idea: get married and put his family on my company’s insurance plan.
It’s supposed to be a marriage on paper only. But this being a small town, our nuptials accidentally go public. Now, we have to play house in order to make this scheme believable.
Suddenly, I’m trading my swanky highrise for a cramped split-level and refereeing sibling squabbles while attempting to make a meatloaf.
Goodbye bottomless mimosas. Hello bottomless piles of laundry.
I’m also sharing a bed with my closest friend, the one guy I promised myself I’d never cross a line with…and using all my willpower to keep that promise.
The more time I spend married to Tanner, the harder it is to remember what’s fake. Because every time he smiles at me, every time he calls me his husband, it feels a little too real.
If our ruse is exposed, I could lose not just my career, but the man and family I never knew I wanted.
Scoring Chance is a single dad, friends-to-lovers, marriage of convenience MM romance. It’s book 2 in The Comebacks series, about a team of former hockey champions recapturing their magic (and finding love) in a local amateur league—but it can be read as a standalone. Whether they win or lose, there’s always a post-game beer.

Tanner and Des have been best friends since high school. They have been through all sorts of life events and currently play on the same hockey team. They have always been opposites in how they see relationships and goals. Tanner's family was always Des's safe space when he was a kid, and he still is now.
Tanner is a widowed dad of four who just lost his job. Des is a put-together, work-a-holic, and a player and commitment-phobe. In an attempt to help his friend, Des proposes a fake marriage with a bit of insurance fraud that is supposed to be temporary. But keeping it a secret turns out to be not as easy as they thought, and now it seems to be affecting their lives in unexpected ways. And the more time they spend in forced proximity in a chaotic house, the more comfortable they start to become. But both of them are scared of their changing feelings and worry that the other could never feel the same.
This is a sweet, heartfelt, single dad, marriage-of-convenience, best-friends/teammates-to-lovers romance. It brings back friends from previous books to both taunt and support them when needed. I like that these guys are older and have been friends for a long time, and that this is their second chance to be a hockey team. I enjoyed seeing Des become immersed in a chaotic kid-filled house and family and these two explore more past the friendship they always had and how it naturally progresses to something neither of them expected was possible. .
As a high school hockey star, I was on track for greatness. Until an opponent attacked me on the ice, leaving me half blind.
For the past twenty-seven years, I’ve avoided hockey and its painful memories. But when my old teammates get back together to play in a local recreational league, I realize it could be a chance to rewrite history. The only person standing in my way is Jack Gross.
Hockey isn’t complete without a rivalry, and ours comes courtesy of the Blades: they’re younger, faster, and fronted by Jack, a former professional hockey player who hates my guts after a rooftop hookup gone wrong.
His cockiness and penchant for pranks make me hate him right back. But Jack has a special way of getting under my skin that makes me want to get into his pants. And well, I only have so much willpower.
As our teams get closer to a showdown on the ice, Jack begins shedding his armor of confidence. Despite getting to live the life I dreamed of, maybe Jack is as messed up as me.
The championship game could redeem the past for us both. But there can only be one winner. Will victory taste as sweet if it costs me Jack?
Gross Misconduct is a rivals to lovers, age gap, single dad, gay romance with no cheating and an HEA. It is book 1 in The Comebacks, a series about a friend group of single dads who were hockey all-stars in high school and looking to recapture the magic in their forties. Whether they win or lose, there's always a post-game beer.
