Secrets.
Everyone has one.
Some are bigger than others.
And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you ...
And some will end you.

Kate Sedgwick’s life has been anything but typical. She’s endured hardship and tragedy, but throughout it all she remains happy and optimistic (there’s a reason her best friend Gus calls her Bright Side). Kate is strong-willed, funny, smart, and musically gifted. She’s also never believed in love. So when Kate leaves San Diego to attend college in the small town of Grant, Minnesota, the last thing she expects is to fall in love with Keller Banks.

They both feel it.
But they each have a reason to fight it.
They each have a secret.

And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you …
And some will end you.

Bright Side is my TOP RECOMMENDATION of 2014

This book completely and utterly wrecked me. There were times I felt so numb and emotionally depleted; I wasn't sure if I could continue. My heart wept as it drowned in pain for our trio (no love triangle). Looking back, I have no idea how I even managed to see through the tears freely flowing down my face from the devastation. With that said, Ms. Holden also gave us moments that melted my soul and made me ache in a completely different way. I am talking about those special moments where the sass, humor, friendship, and pure love made each and every second of that devastation well worth the drowning.

The Bright Side is not anywhere close to being an emotionally light book. If you are the type of reader looking for fluffy little unicorns, please click the back button and continue on your way. However, if you do decide to take this wildly emotional ride, just an fyi, you will not come out on the other side the same(and I say this in a good way). These characters and their intricate, gut-wrenching, yet achingly beautiful story will leave that forever kind of lasting impression. It has only been hours since I finished, but I am still consumed by Kate’s journey, still shedding tears just thinking about Gus, Kate, and Keller. In my humble opinion, I think that EVERYONE needs to experience Kim Holden’s Bright Side.

Kate is a true inspiration. I don't think I have ever met another character like her, If I only possessed an ounce of her strength and light… There is no doubt in my mind that Gus, Kate, and Keller (as well as Clayton, Pete, and Shelly) have made a major impact and will be with me permanently.

I am sure I sound like every other reviewer out there right now, but this book truly is perfect in every way. Best book I have bought all year!

Some of my favorite things: reading, writing, the two coolest guys on the planet (my husband and son), my bicycle (my husband built it for me), Facebook (I'm fairly certain it's an addiction at this point), iced coffee (hazelnut), and music (LOVE the 1975, Dredg, the xx, Haim, Teenage Bottlerocket, and 30 Seconds to Mars). I also love dreaming, which brings me to my next point. I have one bit of advice for anyone reading this ... follow your dreams. It's never too late. Get started today ... heck get started RIGHT NOW! I wanted to write a book 20 years ago. Instead I waited. And waited. I should've been writing. But I didn't. I don't do regrets, because the past is just that, the past. But let me tell you there's nothing in the world like achieving something you've dreamt about for years and years. So, get started. Make your dreams reality.

I love to hear from other readers. Send me a message or find me on Facebook (https://facebook.com/kimholdenauthor) and tell what's up in your reading world.
