To want what you’re not supposed to have…

She is only nineteen.

She is his new stepfather’s daughter.

She is still naïve and innocent due to spending the last three years taking care of her sick mother.

But for twenty-four year old Rush Finlay, she is the only thing that has ever been off limits. His famous father’s guilt money, his mother’s desperation to win his love, and his charm are the three reasons he has never been told no.

Blaire Wynn left her small farmhouse in Alabama, after her mother passed away, to move in with her father and his new wife in their sprawling beach house along the Florida gulf coast. She isn’t prepared for the lifestyle change and she knows she’ll never fit into this world. Then there is her sexy stepbrother who her father leaves her with for the summer while he runs off to Paris with his wife. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous. He is also getting under her skin. She knows he is anything but good for her and that he’ll never be faithful to anyone. He is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that…

Blaire just may have fallen too far.

"I don't know what this is that is going on between us but from the moment I laid eyes on you I knew you were going to change my world. I was terrified. The more I watched you the more you drew me in. I couldn't get close enough."

Blaire and Rush were a force to be reckon with. They both really wanted each other, but Rush had this way of pushing her away and making her feel worthless for the first half of the book. The bad boy finally found something he wanted but couldn't have or should I say wouldn't let himself have. Blaire however was bound and determine to make Rush hers and hers alone.

I really loved the tale Abbi spun you up in. Rush and Blaire left you breathless. There was no putting this story down. I read the entire book in one setting, who needs sleep right. The characters were very well developed and they were intriguing. I loved the chemistry from all the characters right from the start. The secondary characters played just as much of a roll as the MC's did and together they fell in line perfectly bringing you heartbreak and love.

I will admit I was a Grant fan at the very beginning. I adored him and thought he would make a perfect hero for Blaire. I even rooted for them, which is surprising because I normally head straight for the bad boy. Rush grew on me quickly though with his protectiveness over Blaire and Nan. It showed his character had loyalty and even though he was damaged you could see that when he finally fell in love it would be long lasting and hard. I really enjoyed Rush, but his behavior sometimes had me ready to throw my Nook and other times he had my heart melting with just a simple statement.

Blaire, I didn't mind her as the heroine. In fact when she opened the story line pulling out a gun I thought yes, a kick ass heroine who won't take no crap. I liked how she went after what she wanted and I also loved her loyalty to her mother and sister. I will be honest and say that towards the end of the book I was not a huge fan of hers, and I thought things could of been handled much differently, but I am praying that she will fix that in book 2. I think she is perfect for Rush if they can get their crap together.

The attraction between Blaire and Rush was instant, now I normally hate this, but it worked for those two. Of course the hero ran as fast as he could while the heroine gave chase. Blaire knew exactly what she wanted and went after it with a vengeance. Problem with that was when she finally caught up to it she had one to many obstacles to overcome in keeping it. Secrets always have a way of revealing themselves and if they are not handled just so they can blow up in your face causing your world to fall apart.

Abbi threw us one hell of a cliffhanger, one that had me cursing a blue streak. I NEEDED book 2 right then and there. Secrets were revealed. Tempers and pain were a given as was the heartache that followed not only Rush and Blaire but also the reader. the ending was very intense, and full of drama. Will love be enough to fix the wrong between these two? I sure hope so because as it stands my heart is just as broken as Rush's.

A DEFINITE must read, and I will also be adding Abbi's other stories to my TBR list. I adore her writing style.

Blaire travels from Alabama to Florida to her estranged father's new home. She is alone since her mother passed away and has nowhere else to go.

Rush...Her new step brother. He judges her based on his dislike for her father. He started out distant, mean, inconsiderate. He pushed her away, he made her feel unwelcome. But he couldn't help himself and gave in to his need to know her.

Sure, he had a body that underwear models were jealous of and those eyes of his could make a girl do crazy things. But still. He was so cruel.

"Keep your distance from me, Blaire. You don't want to get too close."

"You don't want to know me. You may think you do, but you don't. I promise."

Blaire...she is sweet, strong, determined, independent, and beautiful. She works hard to make her own way and does not take charity if she can help it. She has a gun and is not afraid to use it. She feels alone in the world since her mother and sister had died and her father had abandoned them. She is not sure what to make of her father's new family... step siblings Rush, Grant, and Nan. Rush especially was an enigma to her.

He might be letting me sleep at his house but I didn't like him touching me. Or maybe I did like him touching me and that was the problem. I didn't want to like him touching me.

Every time I let my guard down a little around him he reminded me why I needed to keep it firmly in place. The guy was strange. Sexy, gorgeous and delicious but strange.

They fight their attraction and their feelings. He pushes her away as much as he can, but the pull is too strong. I loved seeing their relationship develop and how protective he became of her.

"I'll be your friend. I'll try my damndest to be your friend but I have to be careful. I can't get too close. You make me want things I can't have."

"I push people away Blaire. It's a protective mechanism for me. But I don't want to push you away."

I don't know what this is that is going on between us but from the moment I laid eyes on you I knew you were going to change my world. I was terrified. The more I watched you the more you drew me in. I couldn't get close enough."

But all along we know there is some big secret Rush is hiding. There is something about their family and his sister and everyone knows it but her. By the time you get to that point, you are hoping that it can be resolved. But as it all comes crashing down, it is heartbreaking. I felt sorry for Blaire and my heart just broke for Rush.

Everyone always said love was enough. It wasn't. Not when your soul was shattered.

And then BAM! Cliffhanger! What?! I was not prepared to be left needing book 2 Never Too Far immediately! I cannot wait to see how things end up with Rush and Blaire.
