Book 2 in The Secret Series

Ella and Micha have survived tragedy and heartbreak. When they're together, anything seems possible. But now they are thousands of miles apart, and managing their long distance relationship will put their love to the test.

Ella is back at school, trying hard not worry so much about her future. But with her father in and out of rehab, she's having a hard time making it through the days. All she wants is Micha by her side, but she refuses to let her problems get in the way of his dreams.

Micha spends his days touring the country with his band, but deep down he knows something is missing. Being away from Ella is harder than he thought it would be. He wants her closer to him-needs her with him. But he won't ask her to leave college, just to be with him.

The few moments they do spend together are intense and passionate, but it only makes it more difficult when they have to part. They know they want to be together, but is wanting something enough to get them to their forever?

Book 1: The Secret of Ella and Micha: Goodreads/Amazon/B&N
I never looked far enough into the future to realize that maybe one day Micha and I may not be together. A forever? Does such a thing exist?

Getting together was just the beginning. Ella and Micha have plenty of hurdles left to cross. This book starts right after The Secret of Ella and Micha leaves off. They are separated with Micha on tour with his band and Ella at school in Las Vegas with Lila. Being apart, fears, insecurities, and their own personal issues threaten their happiness.

Ella still has a lot of personal work to do on herself before she can  give herself to Micha fully. She still has family drama, emotional scars from the past, trust issues, feelings of inadequacy and decreased self worth. Micha is patient for the most part and never wavers in his desire and love for Ella. He knows what he wants, but he also realizes she cannot be pushed too hard without retreating or running. But he is not perfect. He has trouble adjusting to life on the road and without Ella. He gets upset and jealous. He is also trying to handle family issues, deal with the separation and other problems, and has some unhealthy coping strategies. They both have issues that need to be worked out before they can truly move on in the future.

Ella is it for me. The way I feel about her is never going to change. I will love her forever, but I need her closer to me, not thousands of miles away. How am I supposed to tell her, though, that I'm ready to begin her future, when I know she has no clue what her future is yet?

I want this. So much. I want someone to be mine forever--I want Micha. But I need to become a person we both love; otherwise we'll never make it.

Ella is showing more maturity with facing her problems, seeing issues as they occur, and realizing that work is required to be whole and healthy. But she still falls back into her dark place and  poor coping patterns at times. Micha is supportive, loving, accepting, and dedicated. He never wavers is his feelings for Ella no matter how bad things get or how much she pushes him away. And they both want what is best for the other one and think they know what that is...and sometimes that makes it even more complicated. And in the midst of their relationship trials, Ella and Micha both had family dynamics issues and drama to deal with. They are both fighting their personal demons, dealing with each other's flaws, and trying to decide what their future holds. It is a roller coaster ride of drama and angst mixed with moments of joy and peace.

"Because most people go into this blind. They don't know the bad side of the person they're with. But we know each other's flaws and cracks--we know what we're getting into and it makes us stronger."

Are they destined to fall back into old patterns and break apart or will they be able to move forward together?

This book had me nervous, tense, mad, happy, and swoony all at various times. But the journey was necessary for Ella and Micha to truly begin to heal and grow their relationship. I enjoyed it and think it was a wonderful conclusion to their story. I enjoyed seeing more with Ethan and Lila. And I think we have barely scratched the surface with their complicated stories. I hope to see more  from Ella and Micha's future in the next book of the series The Temptation of Lila and Ethan expected October 2013.
