A standalone erotica/adult romance fiction.

What do you do when the man you love leaves, and the only man you’ve wanted since is the one you can’t have?

When Emma’s first love walked away after learning she was pregnant, she was forced to pick up the pieces, re-evaluate her priorities, and change the course of her dreams all for the sake of her son, who became the only one who mattered.

It also meant taking a job with Jack McMillan; powerful, sexy, controlled, and CEO of McMillan Holdings. Emma has spent the last several years keeping her dreams and fantasies of Jack to herself, but one night, and one encounter, changed everything.

Once the walls between them are dropped and the truth is laid bare, will Jack and Emma’s new relationship be able to survive? When they are forced to confront their pasts, will they learn to finally put their trust in someone else, or will the lies that are told destroy them both?

Excerpt:
"That tie looks nice on you." Instantly I wish I could take the words back, my fingers however were short in getting the message. They slowly reached out and played with the ends of the dark purple tie I bought for him just a week ago. Jack looked down at my hands, fiddling with the sharp point at the end of the tie and back at me.
"My assistant has good taste."
I rubbed my tongue across my teeth. This wasn’t happening. I had known Jack too long to risk my job over throwing myself at my boss. The realization shocked me back to reality and I let the tie fall from my fingers. I needed to get a grip on myself, and quickly. I waved at the bar tender for a refill and drained my first drink, pretending nothing had just happened.
It didn’t last long though because almost instantly Jack’s hand was on my thigh, resting softly just above my knee.
He looked down at his hand and then back at me. "This is probably inappropriate isn’t it?"
Fuck no...or yes. Good grief, what was wrong me? I took a sip of my re-filled drink, wincing slightly at how strong it was before turning to him.
"I’m not sure anymore to be honest."

He possessed power and control at every single moment I saw him. As his personal assistant, housekeeper and personal cook, I saw a lot of him.

Emma is a hardworking single mom. She gave up her law school dreams for her son and took a job with CEO Jack McMillan and moved on with her life. She and Jack have always been professional although she has secretly been lusting after him.  But who wouldn't? He is a wonderful boss, sweet to her five year old son, hot, sexy, and dripping with charisma. One night changes everything....a little jealousy, a lot of alcohol, and the powder keg finally ignites. And even though they try to deny it further, they find it impossible to do so. Finally, Jack breaks down and admits he not only wants her physically, but  he also wants to try to build a relationship with her.

"I don't get emotional, Emma, you know that. But ever since I touched your lips last week I feel like I'm a volcano ready to explode and I don't know how to handle all this shit I'm dealing with."

"I'm going to fuck up. There's a reason why I don't date and let people in. I'm broken and damaged....but I still want to try."

Jack is controlling, bossy, void of outside emotion, and usually in command. But Emma makes him lose control. He is also protective, possessive, and caring. He usually never gets past three dates with a women much less gets close enough to  have feelings, but he lets Emma in. And he has been there for her and her son for five years. This man made me hot and tingly. He is so alpha, but when he showed his vulnerable side it made me swoon. But even when he was saying something sweet, his curse words just fit his intense personality.

"I think that what I feel for you scares the shit out of me, and if it's love, then I have no fucking idea why people choose to do it willingly."

"When you're not around, you're all I think about. When you're in my home - I never want you to go. This shit is all new to me and it's confusing as hell most of the time, but the rest of the time I just fucking love it"

She is independent, sassy, smart, beautiful, and strong. But still feels a little out of his league. She could be emotional, but had a quiet strength and determination about her. She was not afraid to say what she thinks and challenge Jack. She had the support of good friends, but she was also capable on her own. And she is a loving, nurturing, attentive mother and will do whatever she has to in order to protect her son and make him happy.

Together they have explosive chemistry and true feelings and respect. They have great potential since they have worked closely together for five years. He seemed to be helping her get over her past and she was helping him open up. I loved seeing the softer side of domineering Jack.

But the past does not always stay in the past. And when it all comes crashing down, can they make it through together or will they be ripped apart for good?

There were secrets, lies, and mysteries that kept me intrigued and guessing. I was so angry at Jack at times that I wanted to kick his ass! And there were other situations causing tension, jealousy, resentment, anger, and sadness. This book took me on a roller coaster of emotions along with Emma and had me upset, frustrated, and tearful too. But I loved Jack and was always in his corner. Even when Emma had other options.

"And Love isn't always rainbows and unicorns. It's work. And sometimes it's ugly and nasty, but when you love someone, you press through all the bullshit because you remember how good it can be."

The writing  style flowed well, kept me engaged, and made me invest in these characters. The characters were likable and  had depth. The story line was unique and had underlying intrigue. It was a complete story and left me without any loose ends...and in this day where cliffhangers are becoming more prevalent, that made me happy. I thoroughly enjoyed this sexy, sweet, suspenseful read.
