There’s no way Lydia--oldest and most responsible of the tight-knit Rodriguez clan--is going to let her nosy family find out about the uncharacteristic work screw-up that landed her a paid suspension. To keep busy and avoid panic, she enrolls in a life enrichment class. The first guest speaker is a handsome artist with a wicked smile and eyes that melt right through her.

Even the “ice princess” can’t help but feel an immediate spark that lights her blood on fire.

Isaac Ortiz is unquestionably the sexiest man Lydia has ever met. The talented son of a famous Spanish artist, he’s constantly moving from one new glamorous city to another, working if and when the muse visits him.

He also has a stare that makes Lydia’s heart race and hands that look more than capable of making her scream with pleasure. She shouldn’t be attracted to this free-spirit who makes all his own rules--but she is.

There’s just one hiccup....Isaac is nineteen.

Lydia has lived her entire life firmly inside the box, and being with a younger man is definitely outside the safe confines she enjoys.

So why can’t she stay away from him? And why is she seriously considering his proposition to take off to a place she’s never been...just because?

When Lydia is invited back to work with a cleared name, she should be overjoyed.

But the reality is, Lydia doesn’t know what anchors her life anymore...or if she wants to be anchored at all. Should she travel the world with Isaac? Or continue down the road that she’s worked long and hard to pave for herself? Choosing one means losing the other, and Lydia isn’t sure if she’s ready to drift with the current that’s pulling her by the heart.

I'm Lydia Rodriguez. Stone Cold Lydia Pitbull Rodriguez. I can handle anything.
Lydia Rodriguez has always been the tough one, the bossy lawyer with an attitude. She's driven, successful, and all about control and career. But now one mistake has put her career in jeopardy and changed her whole life. So she is going to make the most out of her unscheduled sabbatical and take a life development class.

I'll recharge by doing every goddamn bad thing I've ever wanted to do. Twice. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger and I'm about to become a goddess of vengeance.

Isaac Ortiz is a resident artist and guest lecturer at the University. She immediately makes in impression on the young, professor who has all of the college girls in a tizzy. But Lydia is not looking for love or complications and there is an age difference. But Isaac is pretty mature and determined. And so begins the chase.

The more time they spend together, the more Lydia learns what she has been missing in life--passion, enjoyment, real connections, and feelings. And she provides inspiration to Isaac as well. They have strong chemistry and a deep compatibility. He seems much older than his age and she seems younger as she learns to let go. But there are complications and a time limit. He is just a guest lecturer and eventually she has to deal with her job.

I enjoyed getting to see a more stripped down version of Lydia. She  had a softer side under all of those layers of armor she usually wore. I honestly never really liked her much in the other books. She was always kind of bossy, authoritative, closed off, and hard. But in this one, we see her vulnerable side. She begins to  change and realize what is really important in life.

Isaac. Wow! He really did not seem nineteen. He definitely was an old soul and has a worldly charm about him. But we also saw growth in his character from being a playboy with no attachments to wanting a connection so bad that it was all he could think about. He had his past insecurities that filtered into his present. But he was strong, intelligent, sweet, passionate, and sexy.

"And there's nothing more beautiful than a woman who dares you to rise to the challenge of being enough for her."

He's freed me. It's scary as hell, soaring up here with nothing holding me back...He unlocked something in me and then threw the key away. The old cage can't hold me anymore.

But are their worlds too different to co-exist? And what happens when time runs out?

I loved spending more time with the whole crazy Rodriguez-Beckett clan. This book focused more on Cece, Cohen, Maren, Deo and Whit. OMG I still just adore Deo and Cohen. They seriously crack me up!  I appreciated Cece more in this one as well. She was so much fun and it was nice to see more of a relationship form between her and Lydia.  It was fitting to get updates on the whole clan and to bring them together. These characters have such strong relationships and bonds. They are a beautiful mix of of fun and crazy and just keep bringing in more members. They love hard, fight hard, and protect their family. The way they like to tease each other just shows what a true family they are. I really enjoyed Lydia and Isaac's story. It is sad that this is the end of the Silver Strand series, but I am looking forward to more in the spin off series with the first one titled Almost Lover featuring more with Enzo in California.

Thanks to Steph Campbell and Liz Reinhardt for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Liz Reinhardt Website/Facebook/Twitter

Liz Reinhardt was born and raised in the idyllic beauty of northwest NJ. A move to the subtropics of coastal Georgia with her daughter and husband left her with a newly realized taste for the beach and a bloated sunscreen budget. Right alongside these new loves is her old, steadfast affection and longing for bagels and the fast-talking foul mouths of her youth.

She loves Raisinettes, even if they aren't really candy, the Oxford comma, movies that are hilarious or feature zombies, any and all books, but especially romance (the smarter and hotter, the better), the sound of her daughter's incessantly wise and entertaining chatter, and watching her husband work on cars in the driveway.

She is the author of the Brenna Blixen series (Double Clutch, Junk Miles, Slow Twitch), the Youngblood series (Fall Guy, Perfectly Unmatched), and co-writes with the awesome Steph Campbell in the Lengths series (Lengths, Depths, Limits, Ties, Riptides).
