Alex Estrada, Emilia Adams, and Sam Cortez were surrounded by them. Every time Emilia would start to find a sense of peace or happiness, something would happen to pull the rug out from under her. Even after some of the lies were exposed and there was a life changing event...They were still buried under more lies.

This is Emilia's continuing story as she faces the aftermath of a tragic event (That Holy Crap ending from book one), unexpected challenges, and more secrets and lies. She is emotionally battered and broken, but has no choice but to dig deep and  find her underlying strength  to figure out a course for her future. But to do that she also has to face her demons and accept her current life as it has evolved.

This series is also about two men torn apart by circumstances and pitted against each other on opposite sides of the law. The lines were blurred between good and bad intentions. Two stubborn alphas who also cared for her and wanted Emilia protected no matter what the cost, but did not always agree with how to do that. But with danger lurking and people out to take care of loose ends, Emilia and no one around her is really safe. She has to rely on the help of others to try to protect her.

This book ties up all of the questions from the first book. It continues the action and momentum of the story with various layers and connections. It is emotional for these characters ranging from devastation, loss, guilt, fear, pain, and anger. It is tense and full of danger, action, and suspense. But underlying it all is self forgiveness, hope, sacrifice, love, and second chances.

I was emotionally invested in this story told in multiple points of view. There were some twists and surprises. These characters had so much to deal with and at times it seemed hopeless. But they had a resilience to them and strong will. My heart broke at times for things they endured during the course of their lives and through these two books. It kept me guessing and flipping pages trying to see how it would all turn out. Overall it was a suspenseful, passionate, emotional conclusion to their story.

I thought the drama couldn’t get much higher than the end of Broken By Lies, but Bound By Lies followed those final scenes up nicely. This was the perfect way for all the loose ends from Broken by Lies to be tied up, and yes, all those ends are tied up.

Emilia couldn’t have known what she had in store for her after that final scene in Broken by Lies. It seemed like every times she started to get her feet under her, something would come up to shake her world again. I loved the strength Emilia discovers over the course of this story. She has so many hurdles and emotional roadblocks to overcome. She must constantly balance who to trust, and what is safe.

Sam Cortez promised he would protect her. He loves her too, but she loves only Alex Estrada, the man Sam has vowed to take down. The conflict between the two men in Emilia’s life added just one more aspect to the story that kept me enthralled. Sitting on either side of the law, each man offered protection and danger in different measures.

This was a great ending to this duo, and though it was a quick read it tied up all the loose ends perfectly. The emotional range I felt while I read this was huge. The secrets, betrayals, and lies surrounding this series made for a story that pulled me in and wouldn't let me go until I flipped to the last sentence.

I had no idea how much I would love Alex the day he walked into my life. He changed everything. The way I breathed. The way I thought. The way I loved. He brought me back to life. He gave me strength and a safe place to land. And then he broke me. 

Finding Emilia was a chance to do something good for once in my life. I wanted to change. She believed I was her savior. I ached to be. She found her way into my heart and claimed it as her safe place. I should be telling her the truth about me…instead I break her with lies.
