Catherine Lyons Vaughn's life  has completely fallen apart.  Suddenly she is homeless with nothing more than her car and her clothes.  Rand Bishop has watched Cat at the Silo, though he doesn’t know much about her. They have shared each other's kinky company a few times, but nothing personal. Finding her asleep in her car, he feels the need to be her savior and offers her a safe place until she can get back on her feet. But as he spends more time with her, he realizes he likes having her around.

These characters have more going on that it seemed when we met them earlier in the series, especially Cat. Her history with her husband was surprising, though in hindsight there were clues that there was more going on under the surface. She's a damsel in distress, but she also has her own sense of pride. She's a survivor and has a need to feel wanted and cared for.

Rand has had his share of triumphs and disappointments in his life, but has just found his rhythm in Montana between working at the Wicked Horse and a tattoo shop. He was not looking for any kind of relationship. But he becomes quite a swoony hero with his protective feelings and white knight complex when it comes to Cat. He swoops in to save the day on several occasions and has a strong need to take care of those he loves.  He always seems to know when Cat needs a push and when to give her space, even when it hurts him to do so. He is caring and nurturing, but also still has his sexy, wicked ways.

The fire between these two is fantastic. They know they have chemistry, after all, they have been together at the Silo. What they didn’t know was that they would actually like each other outside the Silo’s walls. And that adding feelings to all that heat, can change everything they ever thought they knew about relationships.

The story line beyond the passion was intriguing. As Cat works to stand up against those threatening her, she realizes there is more going on to her eviction than a simple misunderstanding. And Rand is determined to help her succeed and be her safety net. Cat's world is changing as she is beginning to discover how  trust, support, and true attachments can improve healing and self worth.

Previous couples return for the story, with Callie and Sloane providing feminine company and help for Cat, and Woolf and Bridger assisting Rand with his goals, but they play background roles and leave the attention on Cat and Rand. 

This series has an interesting relationship to the sex club it revolves around. Yes, these characters met in a sex club, but their relationship as it builds in this book, exists completely outside the club. With Cat’s history with the club, it was surprising that there was a lack of present day time spent there, but as her past comes to light, the reason she avoids the Silo now becomes clear. Though the Silo may have played a smaller role in this present day story, there is no shortage of sexual tension and play between Rand and Cat; it just takes a slightly different role. The Silo as a setting may have been nearly absent here, but from the teaser of the next book, it will be central to Logan’s tale.
