Remy Duval was my high school crush and secret first kiss, but he’s also so much more. A painter, a tattoo artist, my best friend Bailey’s older brother…and Bailey’s sworn enemy. Remy Duvall is used to being considered the rebel or the one making waves. Remy is an artist and tattoo artist who is seen as the black sheep of his family. He is broody, cynical, protective, and honest. His brother now hates him due to an event from their past. He’s harbored a crush on his little brother‘s best friend for years. And now all three of them are at the same college together.
Alex has had a crush on Remy since he was young as well. He is intelligent, sweet, a peacemaker, and a people pleaser. He is a disciplined swimmer just finding his own way in college. But he’s also stuck in the middle between the two estranged brothers.
But now being at the same place has given Alex and Remy an opportunity to enjoy some stolen moments and open up communication even if they have to keep it on the down low to avoid conflict. But the more time they spend together and get to know each other as adults, the more they can’t control their attraction and chemistry. Both are convinced that it’s just a fling and feelings won’t come into play. They both have issues that make them wary of relationships and afraid to trust them. But they also help each other feel more confident, supported, accepted, and happy.
This is a forbidden-by-circumstances, first crush, best-friend's-younger-brother, opposites-attract, college romance. I really loved Remy and Alex together and felt their connection past and present. You just know these guys all are on borrowed time and eventually all the secrets are going to come out and they’ve got plenty of issues to overcome and complicated relationships to mend. They will have to break down walls, overcome fears, be vulnerable, and trust each other...and then deal with the bratty brother, Bailey. I will admit that for most of the book he totally annoyed me, but I liked Remy's roommate Derek though.
“Wanna dance?” Alex asked with a hopeful glint in his eye.
“Nah, I’ll just observe from a safe distance.” I leaned forward. “I like watching you.”
He made a frustrated sound. “Okay, you don’t play fair.”
“And you do?” I chuckled, eyeing him.
“Ready?” Jordan nudged him, and Alex nodded.
Just as they were about to head out, Alex swung around. “Will you hold my jacket so I don’t lose it?”
“Of course.” Once I took it from him, I slipped my arms through it so it wasn’t dragged or stepped on or anything. The material was warm and soft, obviously broken in from use. But when I angled my head and sniffed the lapel, it smelled like him too. Perfect.
“What?” I asked, realizing that Alex was staring at me with a wistfulness in his eyes.
“It looks good on you,” he said, adjusting the hem against my waist.
I grimaced. “Don’t get any ideas.”
“Well, you did go to a football game, which I still can’t believe.”
“You and me both.”
As soon as I shifted, I realized that his jacket was a bit of a tight fit in the shoulders. I’d need to be careful so I didn’t tear it.
“By the way, I wouldn’t be caught dead in this thing if it wasn’t yours.”
He cracked a smile. “Thank you for your sacrifice.”
I leaned forward. “You’re welcome, Chlorine Boy.”

It wasn’t until she began writing a weekly column for the local newspaper that the bells went off in her head. She could finally draw from her real-life experiences and vivid imagination to write fiction—and she’s never looked back.
