Is it possible my straight best friend had a sudden stick shift?
I made peace with my hopeless crush on my straight best friend, Journey, years ago. It helps that he’s never in the country long and our relationship consists of sporadic texts and video chats at odd hours.
Now Journey is back. Back in the country, in my space, sharing my bed, and something is changing between us.
Neither of us has a clue how to run the small farm his uncle left him, but I’m willing to be the idiot standing next to him, figuring it out. Learning how to shear an alpaca or keep a rogue mini cow out of the kitchen looks easy compared to navigating the sudden change in Journey.
Is he looking at me differently? Is he touching me more? Straight guys don’t normally kiss other men, right? I don’t know what’s happening between us, but I’ll put things in gear and floor it all the way.
Stick Shift is a bi-awakening, best friends to lovers story with farm animal shenanigans, nosy mechanics, and all the steam and sweetness you can handle.
Red is a mechanic with a good set of friends at work. He is gay and has been in love with best friend for over 25 years and they have been friends even longer. He is loving, loyal, protective, and self-sacrificing.
Journey has been a wandering man building a career blogging, writing, and traveling. But now he is suddenly home and has inherited his uncle's farm. And Red is right there with him ready to help.
But as they begin sharing close quarters, Journey starts to have some confusing thoughts and feelings about his best friend. He has always thought he was straight and not all that interested. But Red is starting to challenge all he knows about himself without even trying. And Red is not sure what the he heck has gotten into his best friend.
Will Red finally get what he has been dreaming of most of his life or is this just a temporary experiment for Journey? Can their friendship withstand all the changes? And can a mechanic and a travel blogger really run a farm?
This is a low angst, forced proximity best-friends-to-lovers, bi-demi awakening story with two lifelong friends exploring new life directions and new feelings together. I felt their strong connection from the start and it is a basis for their changing relationship. I loved that they respected each other, had each other's backs, and actually communicated. And once released, the chemistry between them is fire!
Many of the Four Bears crew and Big Bull guys are around to give advice, stir the pot, and attend parties full of shenanigans. And this book is mostly just full of fun and feelings and not much drama. The animals have their own strong personalities as well and I found myself smiling at all of the antics.

I don’t have time for a relationship, not even with the adorably dorky vet I can’t seem to stop bumping into… *sigh * pass the oil and lube
Between running a garage full of beefed up, gear head mechanics and bailing my idiot brother out of trouble every other week, the last thing I have time for is a relationship.
I’ve tried it too many times, and the ridiculous reasons I always find to end it have become a running joke around the garage. But I’ve learned my lesson. No. More. Boyfriends.
I don’t care how many times Porter falls asleep drunk in my bed or how cute he looks covered in oil smears while I teach him how to fix up the vintage car he has rusting away in his garage, I’m not going to fall for him.
Even if I did, what do a mechanic and a veterinarian have in common anyway?
It’s better if we’re only friends… friends who occasionally fiddle with each other’s crankshafts…

Is there an easy way to tell your lifelong best friend that you secretly married his brother eight years ago? Asking for a friend…
When Gates shows up needing a place to crash, I offer him my spare room. Whatever happened between us nearly two decades ago is water under the bridge. I don’t lie awake at night wondering what could have been. Nope, definitely not.
But Gates seems determined to get a rise out of me. He’s tie-dyed all my clothes, removed my bedroom door, and replaced my hand soap with lube. I’m not sure if he’s hoping I’ll kick him out or kill him, but he won’t break me that easily.
When he tells me his Stroker Rod is broken… What kind of mechanic am I if I don’t get hands-on with his problem?
We put our feelings behind us a long time ago, and there’s no way I’ll let Gates break my heart again. No amount of fiddling under the hood will fix everything broken between us. From here on out, it’s purely physical. Right?
Yup, just a couple of guys and their stroker rods.
***Stroker is a best friend’s brother, secretly married, super steamy MM romance.
Author K.M.Neuhold is a complete romance junkie, a total sap in every way. She started her journey as an author in new adult, MF romance, but after a chance reading of an MM book she was completely hooked on everything about lovely- and sometimes damaged- men finding their Happily Ever After together. She has a strong passion for writing characters with a lot of heart and soul, and a bit of humor as well. And she fully admits that her OCD tendencies of making sure every side character has a full backstory will likely always lead to every book having a spin-off or series. When she’s not writing she’s a lion tamer, an astronaut, and a superhero…just kidding, she’s likely watching Netflix and snuggling with her husky while her amazing husband brings her coffee.
