Bain Hillridge is new to the team. He is talented, charming, cocky, and flirty. And he has set his eyes on one woman...his new teammate's sister. But he also wants to stay laser-focused on performing on his new team without big distractions. 

Kiera McGinn is sassy, challenging, witty, fun, sex-positive, and loves to banter with him. She should probably be off limits since her brother Drake and is overprotective and her sister-in-law is the team owner. She is busy working in nursing admin and also caring for her nephews. She has had bad relationships before and likes things easy and in her control. 

Neither is looking for love or romance, but both are up for a sexy romp. But once does not seem to be enough to get it out of their systems.  Friends with benefits seems like a plan. But missing, jealousy, and actually liking each other has the potential to make things messy. 

These two are totally compatible in the bedroom to the point that they are insatiable and explosive. They seem to be compatible in their ways of thinking about love and romance. But what they’re not good at is self-awareness of their own feelings, the other person's, or communication.

They have challenges that bring them closer at times and threaten to tear them apart at others. But they’ll have to figure out what they actually want and are capable of or else run the risk of not still being on the same page.

This is a steamy, witty, teammate's sister, friends-with-benefits story with two commitment phobes finding themselves in an unexpected situation and pushing their boundaries. It's lots of s*x and fun, but also hits with some more serious emotions.

Bain Hillridge is new to the Titans, and has heard the warning to stay away from his teammate’s sister. While he is building new friendships on and off the ice, he also can’t help but notice McGinn’s sister, Keira.

Keira McGinn is free-spirited, loyal, and dedicated to her family. She moved to Pittsburgh to help her brother, leaving behind her school plans and shifting her work to remote so she could care for her nephews when Drake was traveling with the team. She was burned in a previous relationship so isn’t looking for a new relationship, but she is always up for fun.

They are on the same page with relationships, neither looking for attachments. They agree on a fun, no-strings physical relationship kept in secret to not anger her brother. But reality hits quickly and they have to decide if their physical attraction really can sustain their relationship.

This was an easy read for much of the story, simply because the chemistry was on fire and they weren’t pushing far beyond the no-strings set up they agreed to originally. But as the story moved into the last third or so, the emotional impact hit hard and they had to make some really tough choices about their relationship. I loved the cameos from other players and the other spouses and girlfriends.

For as rocky as things were for a large part of the emotional high points, they resolved their conflict quickly. I would have liked to see more of their next steps so that their relationship really felt solid before the end. But with the way this series brings in other couples, I’m sure we will see more of them in future books.

I listened to the audio version and the narration added to that gut punch that happened later in the story. Kirsten Leigh and Connor Crais gave voice to these characters and made them come alive. I look forward to hearing and reading more from the Pittsburgh Titans!
