Cody Cooper has been the cocky, cowboy, playboy throughout the Time River series. It was fun seeing just how quickly Hailey Wagner stops him in his tracks and sneaks under his skin despite his guards. She is strong, sassy, smart, and determined not to fall for his charms. And he has his reasons that he has never felt good enough for a real relationship, despite the fact that he is a protector, supporter, and provider for those he cares about. She has her own walls up and trust issues and is dealing with her own trauma and unrest. 

Like the rest of the books in this series there are mysteries that are slowly unraveled during the story through flashbacks and revealing of secrets. There are threats, danger, and suspense. There is a lot going on in the present and situations from the past all causing guilt, misunderstandings, conflict, and anxiety. There are some twists and surprises.  There is a sweet precocious child named Maddie and a sweet Granny named Lolly. And there is a strong connection that ties this couple together despite them both having a lot of baggage. 

I think Cody turned out to be a wonderful, protective, ad possessive hero. And Hailey is a tenacious Mama Bear. There are plenty of cameos from the other couples and kids giving it a strong found family feel, And it ties up the series in a sweet extra bonus epilogue.
