Dating the sibling of one of my ex-students isn’t a huge problem for me, but I can’t help thinking the twins are hiding something.

The more time I spend with Emmett, the more I fall for him, but as my insecurity grows, so does my worry that I’m being played.

When my heart and my gut tell me two different things, I don’t know which to trust. My gut tells me to cut and run, but my heart won’t let me. Even though I’ve been telling myself to hold back, it’s too late. I’m already in too deep.



Emmett Dalton is one half of the Chaos Twins. His life imploded first by agreeing with his twin Emmett to give up hockey and move to separate colleges in California. and now his college career at San Diego State is up in flames and he has been hiding out in his twin brother's Frat house room and impersonating him as needed for six months.  He regrets some of their past decisions that have put them in a growing tower of lies and continuing issues. And that includes a partial semester taking his brother's statistics class under Professor "McHottie" Brooks. 

Professor Jonah Brooks is twenty-five and this is his first year teaching at Franklin U. He has had a hard time connecting with it and his students. He is casual in style but hard in class. 

Jonah and Emmett officially meet outside of FU and hit it off. It is only supposed to be a one-and-done. And Emmett knows he is playing with fire. But then there is another. And things are rather complicated by all of Emmett's secrets that also involve his twin and Jonah too. Emmet is a fixer and always tries to fix things for Benny but this time he just wanted something for himself, but now he needs a little help digging himself and them all out of this mess.

Emmett has been losing himself for a while due to their shenanigans, and has felt guilt and self-sabotages due to not feeling worthy. But now he wants someone for himself. And Jonah actually sees the real Emmett except for the few big secrets he is holding back. Jonah wants to know all of Emmett but also is afraid of scaring him off. And Emmett is also figuring out what he wants for his future and his career and that maybe his decision to follow Benny was not really in his own best interest.

This is an opposites-attract, professor-pseudo student, nerd-jock, mistaken identity romance with twin shenanigans and a bunch of secrets. There are a lot of layers to Emmett and Benny's lies and they will have to live with the repercussions. It seems like any decision they make has the potential to hurt someone or cause another problem.

I really felt for Emmett and Benny too. Their lives were altered when they were younger and they tried to help each other but only caused themselves more issues. I loved big brothers Asher and West making an appearance. Their family dynamics might be complicated and sometimes they avoid things or get on each other's nerves but at the heart of it all, they all love each other and will do anything they have to for each other.  I enjoyed more with Benny and his new love, Harrison too. This story ties up the Chaos Twins' journey of self-discovery and growth by figuring out who they really are as individuals, who they want to be, who they want to be with, and where they belong. 

Note: I suggest reading his twin Benny's book A Stealthy Situation prior to this one since their stories overlap.
