I feel like I should be trying to prepare you with this review but there's absolutely no way to prepare for what you're about to endure. Nada. Zilch. Nothing I write will truly depict the journey headed your way. I will, however, tell you to brace. Hold the fuck on, nice and tight. Don't get comfy and let go, because just when you think you're in the clear...bam! Bat shit crazy ensues.

Also, since you're here reading these reviews then you've already experienced the first two books in this series, which means you know Pam Godwin is a QUEEN at dark, psychological romance. You already know she's not afraid of going places that will make you fucking squirm and push every boundary you have. She'll fuck with your mind, until right and wrong blend so perfectly together. Leaving you questioning your own morals and every gray space there is in that compass. If you are a black and white reader, this is not the book for you. At. All.

Heart of Frost and Scars did exactly that. More so than the first two books. Kody, Leo, Monty, and Frankie had my emotions and thoughts in a damn vice grip. They gifted me with a hellish rollercoaster ride. And I don't mean one of those dainty ones, either. This quad left me disgusted, enthralled, angry, happy, in love, queasy, intrigued, obsessed, along with a myriad of other sentiments. But most of all, they left me wondering how in the world I could continue to read what I was reading, as it pushed me way the fuck out of my comfort zone. Into zones I'd much rather not cross into.

But that's the thing, Godwin's writing was so rich and gritty, so well developed, so tangible that it kept me flipping those pages, devouring them. Consuming every last word, even the extremely uncomfortable ones.

Pam Godwin spun a unique world that bewitched me and I ate it up. I fell head first into these characters and I couldn't find my out until the end.

Now, with all that said. I must admit this isn't 5 stars because I struggled with Frankie. I actually found her to be pretty selfish. I know many will disagree. However, for me, her actions didn't always scream of someone in love but of someone who wanted what the fuck they wanted, regardless of the repercussions. She ignored their past trauma (forcing them to go to therapy doesn't count) and demanded what she wanted without thought to their own issues and pain. That often broke my heart for these 3 guys because they suffered until they would give in and give her what she wanted. She often manipulated them, causing me to wish I could bitch slap her into tomorrow. She'd have deserved it on more than one occasion. Truth be told, once she reached the real world with the guys I just didn't feel their connection. I didn't truly like it. And Frankie was the reason why. I feel like by the end, we came full circle, and not always in the best way.

What I did love was the GUYS--all three of them! I give them all the damn stars!!

I loved watching them navigate the real world. I loved watching them learn how to heal and overcome their trauma. I loved watching them crush their dreams and find their footing within their new life and family. I loved watching the brothers find solace and trust amongst each other. I loved every damn thing about them. If they weren't related I would have wished for a throuple with just them. I'd have shipped them wicked hard. Alas, it was with great disappointment they were all related. LOL

Along with the guys. That twist!! Holy. Shit. Balls. That twist!

I would definitely recommend this series if you love books that are wicked dark, depraved, and break hella boundaries.
