Release Date October 8, 2025

Cillian
I can’t figure out why I’m so intrigued by Ollie Gibson.

He’s nothing like me—soft where my world is hard, sweet and kind while I’ve grown up around violence.

But there’s a fire to him that sparks the one inside me, loyalty that calls to me, and bravery I respect even if it gets him in trouble.

When Ollie’s hurt and we don’t know if the men who attacked him will come back for more, I can’t stop myself from claiming him. There’s nothing I won’t do to protect him, even go behind his back for vengeance.

I crave him—both the sweetness and the fire, the innocence and the dirty boy he turns into under my touch.

I’ll kill for him, turn my world upside down for him, share my pain and secrets with him. Ollie helps me deal with it all—even the drama with my father.

It’s supposed to be temporary. I’m not supposed to want more, but I’m determined to keep him, and for a reason I can’t understand, Ollie wants me too.

The future lawyer and the criminal. The Good Samaritan and the killer. We’re living between two worlds, this place where vengeance can be sweet and our differences don’t matter. But we both know it can’t go on like this forever. If the violence of my world doesn’t tear us apart, one day Ollie will walk away…and I don’t know how to let myself lose him.

Content Warning: Sweet Vengeance contains discussions and grief over the loss of a parent, violence, darker themes, drug use, and morally gray characters with no redemption arc. This is still a Riley Hart romance though, so you can expect a happily ever after for our guys. Please read the note in the beginning of the book for a more detailed content warning.

I have been excited about this opposites pairing since we met sweet Ollie in the first book and Ollie and Rory took a bit of an interest in him.

Cillian O'Shea is the son of a Mafia Boss and best friends with the Second. He was raised in a world of privilege, violence, and family duty. His past pain has left him with attachment and Daddy issues and fear of love and rejection.  Despite his criminal duties,  he is loyal, protective, and would do anything for his family.

Ollie Gibson is a smart, sweet, kind, and studious pre-law scholarship student. His old roommate, Dean, introduced him to this mini mob group. And when Ollie gets hurt, Cillian especially decides that he is going to protect him and help him recover, whether Ollie fights it or not. But Ollie is not just a passive participant; he is not afraid to challenge, fight, or stand up for who or what he believes in.

They are opposites in their lives, as a Mob legacy and a lawyer-to-be. Mr. Morally Gray and the Do-Gooder. But they also find common ground, comfort,  and a shared passion. Neither is very experienced in relationships, physically or emotionally, but as they learn together, a connection builds that was never supposed to be permanent.  They bring out different sides of the other that no one else has been privy to.

But can they find a way for their two worlds to co-exist so that Cillian can keep his kitten?

This book was a bit lighter than the first one and I really liked both of these guys together. It brings back the tight-knit mini mob crew from the first book: Tiernan, Rory, Aislin, and Dean. I love how close they are and how they will do anything for their own.  I especially liked the relationship between Cillian and his best friend, Rory. It was a different and very close dynamic that was important to them. I am looking forward to Rory's book next.

Dean

I’ve been stalking Tiernan O’Shea online for years.

After Sloan O’Shea killed my dad, my mom and I spent years in hiding, moving from state to state, changing our names, never drawing attention to ourselves, hoping to never be found.

I’ve fed off nothing but vengeance ever since.

Tiernan O’Shea is exactly like his father—arrogant, rich, ruthless.

The plan is simple: Get accepted to Ashford U. Get close to Tiernan. Get him to trust me. And then, when he brings me home to his father, I’ll take my revenge on Sloan O’Shea.

What I don’t expect is discovering the secret side of Tiernan, the parts he doesn’t show the rest of the world. He’s as beautiful as he is brutal—deadly, yes, but he’s also the kind of man who would do anything for those he loves. We’re alike in ways I never imagined. And when he touches me, kisses me…it makes me feel like I matter.

I’ve spent my whole life hoping to even the score, but now my revenge will be bittersweet because it’ll make me lose the only man I’ve ever loved.

Content Warning: Bittersweet Revenge contains violence, darker themes, and morally gray characters with no redemption arc. This is still a Riley Hart romance though, so you can expect a happily ever after for our guys.

Rory's book

Riley Hart's love of all things romance shines brightly in everything she writes. Her primary focus is Male/Male romance but under various pen names, her prose has touched practically every part of the spectrum of love and relationships. The common theme that ties them all together is stories told from the heart.

A hopeless romantic herself, Riley is a lover of character-driven plots, many with flawed and relatable characters. She strives to create stories that readers can not only fall in love with, but also see themselves in. Real characters and real love blended together equal the ultimate Riley Hart experience.
When Riley isn't creating her next story, you can find her reading, traveling, or dreaming about reading or traveling, spending time with her two snarky kids, and swoony husband.

Riley Hart is represented by Jane Dystel at Dystel, Goderich & Bourret Literary Management. She's a 2019 Lambda Literary Award Finalist for Of Sunlight and Stardust.
