Blog Tour: Clash: Sawyer Bennett
Sawyer Bennett
Clash (verb): to conflict, disagree.
It might be fair to say that I despise Macy Carrington. She slings insults with precision, not caring about the destruction she leaves in her wake. We clash in a battle of wills every time we’re around each other, and yet… I still fantasize about being lodged deep within her body.
Clash (verb): to come together or collide.
I have never encountered someone that grates me the way Cal Carson does. His pompous, arrogant demeanor. A holier-than-thou attitude. Any interaction with “Saint Cal” ends in a verbal clash of epic proportions, and yet… there’s no one I’d rather have in my bed than him.
Clash (noun): a battle, fight or skirmish.
Her breathy moans mingle with the sound of our flesh coming together, clashing with the silence that surrounds us, dispelling any notions I once had about Macy Carrington.
Maybe I can break down her walls if we can call a truce to this battle.
He whispers filthy words in my ear, provoking feelings I never knew were possible. The burning desire in his touch clashes with everything I once believed about Cal Carson.
Maybe he can be the balm I need to soothe my broken soul, if only temporarily.

Macy Carrington and Cal Carson are forced to be around each other at times due to their interwined friendships with Matt and Mac Connover. Macy and Cal clash, fight, taunt, tease, and share a mutual disdain. Some is based on jealous for their shared best friend Mac's attention and some is based on the fact that they are completely different.
Cal thinks Macy is a rich, spoiled, opinionated, condescending Ice Princess. She does not do repeats or relationships. Only her best friend Mac knows what drives Macy to act the way she does.
She calls him "Saint Cal" for his holier-than-though attitude. He's a beer drinking, good guy, lawyer, who she considers a neanderthal. He is looking for love and stability, but so far it has eluded him even though his Ex would like to change that.

But their anger, taunts and insults make good, heated foreplay. And one challenge too far sends them spinning into hot, uncontrolled sexual bliss that they never saw coming. So good that Macy is willing to break her no seconds rule for him. But Cal knows going back for more is a very bad idea. Avoid avoid, deny, deny!
But when she needs professional help, he can't avoid her any longer and it only adds another layer of complication and "Do not cross this line" scenario. Their minds might know it, but their bodies aren't as smart.
Whoa! Who knew Cal and Macy could have such scorching, hot chemistry lurking under all that loathing? They are so different, but so very combustible. I loved their banter both angry and sexy. They play off each other so well both verbally and physically. We get Cal's point of view and little tidbits of Macy from her diary entries that hint at some things going on with her that I cannot wait to uncover.
This was a fast, witty, steamy introduction to this Legal Affairs spin off and I am totally hooked! I enjoyed getting more with Matt and Mac Connover as well.

I can't wait to find out more about how Macy and Cal handle their hot situation in Grind and Yield.

Clash re-introduces readers to Macy and Cal. Macy and Cal are not friendly. In fact, they hurl insults and fight at every chance they get.
Each views the other with contempt. Macy calls Cal “Saint Cal” for the tone he often takes when interacting with her. He, in turn, sees her as a spoiled, entitled rich girl who has never had to work for anything.
But simmering below the animosity is an attraction that finally bursts to the surface. I figured Macy would be up for anything once, as she is the friend who introduced Mac to One Night Only in the first place. As a regular user of the anonymous service, Macy loves sex, but doesn’t do repeats. Until something about Cal brings her back for more.
But beyond sex, Macy is as different from Cal’s initial impressions as she can get. Yes, she doesn’t work and lives off a trust fund, but she does so while volunteering nearly full time at a center that helps those who need a hand getting back on their feet. She donates her money as well as her time, but would really rather not be recognized for her contributions.
While Macy surprised Cal, he surprised me. For as reserved as he seemed to be as Mac’s friend and Matt’s former best friend, he was up for anything and has an adventurous streak in bed. And though he played a part in the destruction of Matt’s first marriage, he is beginning to look at the institution as something he wants. Though he’s not sure he wants forever with Camille, his last girlfriend who coincidentally is back in town and wants to reconnect.
I loved getting inside Cal’s head and watching as he maneuvers Macy’s requests, his own notions about her, and the bits and pieces he begins to learn about her. Though this was a short read, it was full of little bits and pieces about the characters that will trip them up, help them out, and make for a great read.
This was a quick, hot read. As an introduction to the characters and their story, it was fun, feisty, and as soon as I hit the end I was switching over to continue their story with Grind. Once I was in their world, I didn’t want to leave.
