The second book in a laugh-out-loud new contemporary romance series from Alison Bliss!

Big girls don't cry. They go after what they want.

Thanks to her bangin' curves, Valerie Carmichael has always turned heads-with the exception of seriously sexy Logan Mathis. Just Valerie's luck that the object of her lust-filled affection is also best friends with her overprotective brother. But Valerie's determined to get Logan's attention . . . even if it means telling a teeny little lie to get a job at his new bar.

Logan can't remember a time when Valerie didn't secretly fuel all his hottest fantasies. Now the curvaceous she-devil is working behind his bar, tempting him every damn night. It's only when he finds Valerie's naughty things-to-do list that Logan decides to break every rule in the book-by making each red-hot deed a reality.

No one warned them that they were going to fall this hard. And no one warned them that sometimes the smallest secrets can have the biggest consequences.

Valerie Carmichael is a vivacious, confident, party girl with curves. She never has a problem getting male attention. But the one man she never could have, just returned to town. Logan Mathis is her older brother's best friend and her long time crush. And he is back in Granite, Texas after an eight year absence. Logan is the one man that drives her crazy by making her react, frustrating her, or hurting her feelings. He jumps to conclusions, riles her up, and then avoids her.

But she has no idea that Logan suffers from the same affliction she does...wanting the one you can't have. He is loyal to her brother and understands that Valerie always has been and will be off limits to him. He does not want to risk his friendship, and he also does not feel worthy of her. He also has some other things going on in his life like starting up his new bar and trying to help his mother. He really does not have time to be distracted by the girl that drives him nuts. But when he needs help at the bar and she won't take no for an answer, he will have no choice but to co-exist with her.

Logan tries all the tricks for denial, resistance, and avoidance, but his jealousy, possessiveness, and need for control is going to be tested to the breaking point. The teasing, taunting, and push and pull adds to the sexual tension.  And once they finally break, it is all the way. Their forbidden flirting and attraction flames into a hot secret affair. Their teenage crushes have continued into adulthood with lust and unresolved feelings. But they not only have to keep it a secret from her brother, but now they are also in a boss and employee situation.

It is refreshing that Valerie is a curvy girl but never focuses on her weight. She wears tight, sexy clothes and heels and is comfortable in her own skin. She is a great combo of sassy, smart, and sweet. And Logan is so enamored of her that he sees her as too good for him. Usually it is the overweight girl with the insecurities and not the tall, sexy man. He is always trying to make up for past mistakes, but he is caring and protective of those in his life. But he is a bit overwhelmed and in over his head at times.

They are living in a lie, but they are also not telling each other everything either. And little white lies can blow up in big ways.  Fear of discovery, guilt, and insecurities impact them. And when it is all out in the open, they are going to have to decide to either to fight for their chance or just give up.

This is a forbidden-best-friend's-little-sister-second-chance-romance with humor, heart and passion. There were a few things near the end that bugged me a bit, but overall it was a sweet, fun, and engaging read.  It can be read as a stand-alone, but I enjoyed getting more with Leah and Sam (Size Matters) and seeing a bit more progression in their relationship. Sam's friend, Max is also back in this book, and Valerie's brother, Brett is featured. I am interested to see if either Max or Brett will be the hero in More to Love.

This is another book where the ending killed it for me.

On the Plus Side was a cute read, quick and fluffy.

I really liked Val and Logan, but there were moments the two of them annoyed the ever living daylights out of me. I hate, hate, hate when characters don't communicate, bringing a whole lot of contrived drama to the story. I also strongly dislike when a character can't admit to being wrong and continuously blame it on the other person.

Outside of these two issues, this was entertaining. Logan, when he wasn't being a douche bag and running over her each time she tried to talk, was a complete sweetheart. A contradiction to those moments that made me want to slap him-HARD-upside the head. When he wasn't being so damn pig headed, I loved him. Even in the end when most would have thought he over reacted.

Val was fun. A vivacious, spitfire who went after what she wanted, which was Logan. Our girl was so full of life and her loyalty knew no bounds. There was so much to like about her strong character; however, there was also some very major characteristics that made me not so keen on her. She took things a bit to far at the end. And I felt, she totally deserved Logan's anger.

Anyway, if you are looking for a cute read, with light angst, than this is the book for you. Despite the few struggles I had, I finished this book in one sitting. So that is an added plus! I don't do that much lately.

P.s. Val's brother tends to be a bit overbearing. A tad bit over done.

Valerie Carmichael needed a drink. A strong one. Because it was the only way she envisioned herself getting through the night.
An elbow nudged into her side, bringing her thoughts back to the crowded bar. “I can’t see anything through all of these people,” Brett said, scanning the room with his eyes. “Come on, let’s go to the other side so I can get a better view.”
Sighing, Valerie trudged behind him without a word.
When Brett had asked her to attend the grand opening of Bottoms Up, a new bar in their hometown of Granite, Texas, she’d hesitated to say yes. Sure, she was curious what the inside of the recently remodeled bar looked like and had no doubt the place would be jam-packed with handsome, available men. But it was still the last place on earth she wanted to be.
She knew better than to hang out in bars with her older and only—thank God—brother. Every time she’d done so in the past, the nights had always ended the same way. Brett would spend the entire evening hovering over her like a rabid pit bull, daring any single guy with a glint in his eye to look her way. Because Valerie turned heads. She always had.
Oh, she wasn’t silly enough to believe she looked like some gorgeous supermodel with a lean, trim figure or anything. She definitely didn’t. But she had a pretty face, banging plus-size curves, and a lively personality. And that was good enough for her. Valerie was just…Valerie. And damn proud of it.
Across the room, Sam and Leah emerged from the dense crowd, with a beer bottle for him and a glass of water for her. Apparently, Leah was still on that damn diet and counting calories so she would fit into her wedding dress. Though why she didn’t just buy the dress in a larger size was beyond Valerie.
Leah blinked at the sight of her. “Val? What are you doing here? You said you weren’t coming.”
Valerie shrugged. “I changed my mind.”
“Are you feeling okay?”
“Yeah, sure. Why?”
“When you said you didn’t want to go out, I assumed you were sick. You never turn down a night out.” Leah placed her palm lightly against Valerie’s forehead. “You sure you don’t have the flu or something?”
Valerie laughed and pushed her friend’s hand away. “Oh, stop it. I just didn’t feel like getting dressed up. I’m getting tired of the whole bar scene.”
Then Valerie’s heart stopped, along with her lips. Oh God.
Brett stood there talking to a tall, dark-haired man who had one thumb hooked in the front pocket of his jeans while he leaned comfortably against the wall with his right shoulder. She couldn’t see the other guy’s face, but she didn’t need to. Valerie recognized all six feet, two inches of him. Logan Mathis.

The rules of (fake) engagement . . .

Leah Martin has spent her life trying to avoid temptation. But she's sick of low-fat snacks, counting calories, and her hyper-critical mom. Fortunately, her popular new bakery keeps her good and distracted. But there aren't enough éclairs in the world to distract Leah from the hotness that is Sam Cooper - or the fact that he just told her mother that they're engaged . . . which is a big, fat lie.

Sam sometime speaks before he thinks. So what started out as defending Leah's date-ability to her judgmental mother soon turned into having a fiancee! Now the plan is to keep up the fake engagement, stay "just friends," and make Leah's family loathe him enough to just call the whole thing off . But Sam has an insatiable sweet tooth, not only for Leah's decadent desserts but her decadent curves. Her full lips. Her bright green eyes. Yep, things aren't going quite according to plan. Now Sam has to convince Leah that he's for real . . . before their little lie turns into one big, sweet disaster.

Alison Bliss grew up in Small Town, Texas, but currently resides in the Midwest with her husband and two sons. With so much testosterone in her home, it's no wonder she writes "girl books." She believes the best way to know if someone is your soul mate is by canoeing with them because if you both make it back alive, it's obviously meant to be. Alison pens the type of books she loves to read most: fun, steamy love stories with heart, heat, laughter, and usually a cowboy or two. As she calls it, "Romance...with a sense of humor."
