A gripping, exquisitely romantic new standalone by New York Times bestselling author Mia Sheridan.

Dane was her first kiss and the only man she ever loved . . . until their marriage crashed and burned.

Now Audra has built a quiet life for herself running a flower shop she's put her whole heart into. But Audra is left reeling when an unexpected circumstance brings Dane back into her world. He's still as breathtaking as he ever was, and he still affects her more than any man she's ever known. Yet learning to trust him again could be a matter of life and death . . .

When Dane offers to fly his ex-wife from California to Colorado to help correct a wrong, he never imagined the harrowing twist of fate awaiting them. When their plane goes down in the snowy mountain wilderness, Dane and Audra are stranded with no one to turn to but each other. Will their second crash end their lives—or save their souls?

THIS IS A STAND-ALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY CANCER. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
OMG! Mia Sheridan nearly killed me with this one! This is a story of first love, soul mates, destiny, and survival that was swirling with intense emotions. I could not flip the pages fast enough as I was captivated throughout.

Audra Kelley has spent the last seven years focused on building a business and avoiding the loneliness and void in her life. She has put every penny and all of her time into it only to have it be put at risk. And the situation forces her to have to face her ex-husband, Dane Townsend. Her first and only love and now ex-husband. Their young marriage could not sustain the storms they faced, and the damage was done to both of them.

Now years late they are back in each other's presence and facing the unresolved feelings and chemistry that could never be denied. And when Dean offers to to fly her home to assist in business matters, they had no idea that their priorities were going to completely shift on their axis.

Audra had put up so many walls of pain that Dane was never able to break down, but he is determined to do just that. When she needed him most, she pushed him away and isolated herself. But the new situation they are facing will take them both working together. They will have to learn to trust, be open, find strength, and hold on fiercely if they are going to make it through the next storm. They will alternately need to protect or save the other during challenges. And nothing is certain.

This book is completely nerve wracking. It is a story of strength, survival, healing, hope, and second chances. It broke my heart, then had me so tense I could barely breathe during the danger and suspense, and then it made me cry. Yes, me, the woman who rarely cries in books, finally had to relieve some of the tension and wipe away a few tears. This is a journey of parallels as this couple faces  desperate isolation and painful situations and have to find their way to survive them. They made some mistakes the first time and now they have a chance to learn from them and do it differently. But with the stakes even higher, will it be enough to sustain them and finally allow them to find happiness?

Dane and Audra were amazing and had such a deep connection and strong chemistry.  They shared a love that had been dormant and closed off for years but never really went away.  I loved getting both of their points of view and scenes in past and present as their history was gradually unraveled. These two were resilient, protective, and self sacrificing. They faced so many challenges and so much pain. They had little hope and could have been crippled by fear, but held on as best they could with sheer will. I almost felt like I was there with them--desperate, cold, hurt, losing faith, and scared. The feelings were so raw and palpable. But the tenacity of these two was so inspiring. The character development was stellar and the challenges felt real. It left me breathless with anticipation and cringing at the hardships. But I also felt the hope and their fervent need to be able to take care of each other and have a chance for new beginnings.

Their painful back story and family dynamics added layers and emotions to this life of death suspense story. There were a couple of little twists that I had actually figured out, but still added to the plot...and there was plenty of tension and action.  At the crux of this though is that once-in-a-lifetime love, forgiveness, healing, and even perhaps fate. It was a vividly told, unique, and powerful story that showcases important life lessons like holding on and recognizing small blessings. The inclusion of an old folk story became an underlying theme during the book and it fit the story perfectly. Mia has done it again and this is definitely in my top faves of 2018.

I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This review is based on KINDLE version NOT AUDIBLE version.
Audra Kelly has spent the last seven years guarding her heart and building her business. She doesn’t let people close, even those who see her on a daily basis are met with boundaries and walls. Her business plan keeps her focused with very little free time or free funds. When the business is threatened, she has to face a past she has worked so hard to put behind her: her first love, now ex-husband, Dane Townsend.

Dane may not live in Colorado any longer, but he has remained focused on his family’s business, adding his own personal touch to the legacy. But when Audra appears in his California office, he is taken back to the end of their marriage, feeling all the unresolved emotions and pain that were left behind when he moved out of Colorado.

They are forced to face the pain and hurt that had been bottled up for so long. And the circumstances that require them to face their past will also threaten their future. There is more than just the relationship to survive in Dane’s Storm, and the addition of the additional adventure and danger added another dimension to the drama.

I purchased both an audio book version and a paperback copy and I can say that both were great. This is one of those books I will own and read in multiple formats (I plan to buy the Kindle version as well) and add to my re-read list.

The narrators do a good job of personifying the pain and determination of the characters and I found myself enjoying their alternating voices as I listened. When I switched to the paperback version (because I needed to continue the story at the faster pace I can read versus listen), their voices continued to narrate as I read. It’s a good thing I had multiple versions, because I could continue the story no matter what I had to do. I was so focused on their situation that I couldn’t put the story down.

I feel like I say this every time Mia has a new release, but it’s true, she has done it again! Dane’s Storm kept me pulled in to the emotions and the connection between the characters as Dane worked to break down the walls Audra had erected so many years before. It led to some pretty harrowing situations, but in hindsight I am so glad they had to take that journey together.
