When Kynan McGrath approached me about joining Jameson Force Security, I jumped at the chance. Just call me Dozer Burney, one half of the genius duo who keeps the team at the forefront of security technology. The move from NASA to Jameson also put me back on the east coast, closer to those who mean the most to me.

Jessica Anderson has been my best friend since college. A single mom who found herself mixed up with a dangerous man years ago, she’s been living a safe, quiet life in Miami after helping police put him behind bars. We both knew her safety, and that of her daughter, was reliant on him staying locked up. So when I see an alert that he’s escaped from his maximum security prison, I know where he’s heading to exact his revenge.

Now it’s a race against time to get to Jessica before he does.

Protecting her with my life is easy, because there’s one thing I’ve never admitted to anyone, not even myself—I have been in love with Jessica Anderson since the day I met her. And if we both make it out alive, I’ll make sure she knows it every day for the rest of our lives.

Dozer has interested me from the beginning of this series. He is the brain and tech genius behind the Jameson Security missions. But now he is going to be on one of his own to save his best friend that he has also been in love with for years.

Jessica is a single mom who helped put away a member of the Russian mafia, but now he is out and putting her safety in question.  She is smart, sweet, and caring, and has kept her own feelings hidden as well.

Dozer is brave, loyal, protective, and willing to put himself on the line for Jessica and her daughter no matter the stakes. But Jessica is also strong-willed, stubborn, impulsive, and just as determined to be involved.

Will they lose each other just as they have finally realized that they want to be more than friends?

This is a fast-paced, best-friends-to-lovers, sweet, romantic suspense story with a man on a mission to safeguard the future for himself and his lady-love. It lets Dozer finally come out of the tech room and into the mission to be the rescuer and operative he never expected to be. His friendship with Bebe also shines as she is determined to do all she can to keep her tech-buddy safe. There is a bit of unexpected interference along the way.

I really liked Dozer and Jessica together and they just felt like they were always meant to be, but just seemed to have some really bad timing. It brings back many of the team members and introduces our next hero and his canine companion as well.
Dozer is the computer genius behind a lot of the technology Jameson Force Security uses in their day to day operations, though he has been picking up some of the training opportunities that come from working in private security. When his best friend becomes the target of an escaped fugitive with Russian mafia ties, he rushes to Florida to protect her and her young daughter. He has been in love with her for years, but has never taken the chance to let her know how he feels, preferring to keep her in his life than risk losing her forever.

Jessica loves her life in Florida with her daughter and living close to her mom. She helped put away a member of the Russian mafia, but until he escapes from prison, she hasn’t given much thought to him since the day he went away. Now she finds herself in danger and Dozer swoops in to help. Returning to Pittsburgh with him is a temporary fix, but how long will she be able to keep secret that she has long harbored feelings for her best friend?

This was a case of hidden feelings and best friends to lovers. The danger of the situation forced both Dozer and Jessica to confront the feelings they have been hiding for so long. As they maneuvered through planning the mission to bring Jessica’s ex out of hiding, the danger of the situation really caused them to look deep.

Both of these characters were strong personalities with a lot going on in their lives. I loved Dozer from the beginning and was intrigued by his relationship with his dad. (I still have a few questions about his dad, but loved how they addressed some of the tension that had always run between them.) Jessica was smart, caring, and loyal, but there were a few times the degree to which she expressed her concern had me shaking my head at her recklessness.

This was a fun addition to the Jameson world and I loved getting to see Bebe and Griff more, as well as the rest of the team. There is a new member of the team who helps out quite a bit here and I can’t wait to see what is in store for him!
