She has also been in the FBI and is not a Private Investigator on a case that may have ties to Rose Canyon and a case that is significant to Emmett and his friends. She is smart, sassy, resourceful, and generally a fighter...but losses in her past and her feelings for Emmett have always scared her senseless.
Blake reenters Emmett's world in a surprise move he did not see coming. She is the one woman that makes Emmett crazy and makes him lose control. They fuss and fight and have strong physical reactions and shared history. She has always had walls up and a fear of loss. And she has scarred him and broken his heart. They are stubborn and have had communication issues. There are surprises, twists, and moments I seriously wanted to throw my kindle (maybe even at the author for being mean again). But it kept me captivated and flipping pages to see how it was all going to come out.
This is an action-packed, friends-to-lovers, second-chance, marriage-of-convenience, love-on-run romantic suspense story. It brings back his friends from the first book, Help Me Remember: Spencer, Brielle, Holden, Addison, and the small town inhabitants of Rose Canyon. And some more of the Cole Security gang. It sets up Holden's book next, Keep This Promise and I am there for it.
