Ford

I’ve never thought much about Orson Naples.

He’s a cute guy who I’d seen around town a few times, but then one day he up and left and didn’t reappear until a few years later. No one knows where he went or what he was doing, all this gossipy town knows is that he’s a widower, owns the florist, and is friends with that divorced group that hang out at the Killer Brew all the time.

But then one day I step into his flower shop and go from rarely thinking about him, to him constantly being on my mind.

There’s a restlessness to him that I’m dying to unlock answers to.

And his eyes linger on me a little too long for a straight man …

Orson

Ford Thomas is a pest. A delightful one. A tempting one. But I’m too old for games.

The ones I’ve played in the past have always led me to trouble which is why I vowed to settle down and live a quiet life.

So when Ford walks into my shop all uncontained energy and flirty quips in a pair of heavy work boots, I know I should show him the door.

I don’t need fun. I don’t need experiences.

Especially when those experiences have me questioning things I thought I knew about myself.

I was enthralled by these two from their first interaction. They’re just so cute and such opposites.

Orson is a widowed 45-year-old florist who’s had a bit of a tragic and checkered past. But now he’s settled into his quiet life. He has always identified as straight and has not really moved on to any new relationships other than being part of the DMC with his friends.

Ford is a big, burly, tatted, mechanic, and shop owner. He’s out and proud and generally flirtatious, and he just cannot seem to contain himself when around Orson. He is a bit of a player and is used to just hookups. He is an intimidating-looking guy with kind of a tarnished reputation, but has such a good heart. And the fact that Orson identifies as straight just does not seem to matter, Ford cannot stay away from him.

They find themselves enjoying time together, developing this witty, fun, and flirty rapport and friendship. They are just a breath of fresh air. And Orson is really getting under Ford’s skin while Orson may be willing to take a second look at what he’s always thought about himself.

This is a delightful, bi-awakening, second-chance, opposites-attract, small-town love story with mature and likable guys. They are just so real and honest, and develop such trust and acceptance. You’ve got the whole Divorced Men’s Club watching, waiting, and giving advice to them.

I absolutely adored everything about these guys and their story. It is sweet, sexy, and swoony, and they are just so mature, patient, passionate, understanding, and lovable. It allows both men opportunities for self-exploration and growth. It is low angst but they do have complex backstories and some insecurities and doubts. I was pulled right in and loved spending time with them and the DMC. I am looking forward to more in the series.
